Uncommon Expansion Failure Glitch?

So I tried finding information about this online in general and haven't found much anywhere. I requested a new expansion on my house, only it didn't happen. Nook said construction was complete, but the room was the same size. Then I grinded for some more bells to pay off my loan for another expansion thinking I was losing my mind. This time I checked the room first so I would clearly know if it changed or not. The previous expansion option was gone as if it was completed, so I selected a new one. The next day, again Nook said construction was complete, but nothing actually expanded.

At some point while playing, one of the 2 expansions randomly appeared on its own, but the other still is not there. Anyone had this happen and know how to fix it?

I feel like this is very common. It happens to me all the time...and I don’t do hacks or anything so I don’t know why this error happens but a lot of times I pay off my loan and then I talk to Nook and he still tells me I have to pay it off.

For me, the loan is paid, and Nook acknowledges it. He even tells me construction on the new expansion is complete and gives me the new loan price. Have you found any way to fix it or work around it?
