Umbrellas and villagers?

So I just gifted Apple an umbrella because it’s raining and she got all excited and said she couldn’t wait to use it and then she put it in her pocket? Is she not using it because kk is on the island today? As a matter of fact none of my villagers are using an umbrella but before when it would rain they would use them usually the diy leaf umbrella.
Edit: I just saw robin using the hydrangea umbrella

I just find it funny that Apple had just complained about the rain so I give her an umbrella and she puts it in her pocket
