Uchi Appreciation Thread

Cherry is one of my favorite villagers overall!
Like some others here, my starter was Hazel and I think she is totally adorable. The unibrow doesn't bother me at all, in fact, I hardly notice it. Hazel has such a cute face and I think that I like her most out of all the squirrels.
I've also given Anges a try, but sadly she just didn't click with me. She just never showed her face around town or interacted with anyone, like she wasn't even there. I still really like her design, though. Others I like based on their designs are Muffy and Fuchsia.

I don't want to be turbo woke but I have to wonder if at least some of the hate uchis get is because they're the only female personality type that isn't hyperfeminine

Sadly that is a possibiltiy ... I guess some of them are a bit more on the androgynous site or at least seem like they're not interested in traditionally feminine stuff. I think that adds variety, after all, there are many different kinds of women in the real world, too.
(I myself am guilty for trying to get Hazel to wear more dresses.)

The Uchi is a low-key, rather spiritual personality category.

I have seen and heard some refer to the Uchi as a Sisterly.

I don’t think that sums them up.

The Uchi is rather independent. It does not strive for the attentions of others. It is a self-reliant and accomplished personality category.

I have a fondness for the likes of these ten: Charlise, Deirdre, Frita, Katt, Muffy, Paula, Phoebe, Plucky, Renee, and Tammy.

I am not limited to those ten. They happened to spring to mind. (I listed them in alphabetical order.)

katt will always be my favorite uchi! she was one of my first villagers in new leaf and ive been in love with her ever since my sister managed to score her in new horizons and im super jealous especially since i’d love to see what changes they made to her house in nh

Renee is my favorite! And I’m genuinely sad that they just named the new sisterly Reneigh. I get the pun but.... this yankee tough girl was first! She reminds me of this one Fruits Basket character! Like she’s threaten anyone trying to hurt the weak and just be there for you if you’re feeling down. >W<

I feel like the sisterly are overall the "rebellious" type, challenging the status quo by either being part of a subculture like punk or gothic or challenging gender stereo types.

Canberra really could be any gender, just looking at her wouldn't make me assume she's female.

I like the Uchi personality, they have really cool dialogues, but I only like three of the villagers. I started with Agnes whom I love now, I'm just so sad she's stuck in her boring starter house when her real interior is so amazing. I just met Pashmina on a friend's island and I really like her too, but I'm not fond of her house sadly. Phoebe looks nice too, never met her though.

Oh man... I wish I could like Uchi. I wish someone could say something that would make them click for me. I certainly like the concept of the personality, rebelling against stereotypes and just like, the whole system, man. But they're just not resonating with me.

In NL, I had Mira and Phoebe in my town as dreamies. Phoebe moved out without saying goodbye, which was the straw that broke the camel's back for me – I was so heartbroken that it made me stop playing the game. It's really hard for me to look at Phoebe without feeling a sense of betrayal like she turned her back on me and is now like 'new handheld who dis?'

I currently have Reneigh and Katt on my island. I've had Reneigh since the beginning but she always seems cold and rude to me. Why is she still saying to me "you again? Is the island not big enough for the both of us?" when GOD FORBID I talk to her for a 2nd or 3rd time? It just makes me not want to interact with her and it makes me bitter toward her. Sorry to impose myself upon you, princess, a thousand apologies! Plus, her starter house is just so pathetic, so I'm considering moving her out.

Katt has been a lot warmer and friendlier than Reneigh for some reason even though she just moved in, but... her house is a trash heap and I just hate how she looks. It takes skill to screw up cats that bad. Sorrrryyyyyy!

In fact, most of the Uchis have very disappointing basic houses. I was searching interior pics trying to find one uchi that looks decent and has a decent house and man... Canberra, Frita, Muffy, and Plucky are the only ones with decent houses. My friend has Plucky so I can't get her, besides, they removed her hair flower and downgraded her for some reason.

Hazel is indeed cute, but I already have 2 squirrels set for my town.

I guess I'll try for Muffy? Her eyes kinda scare me though... Or do people have some good words about Frita? I just don't know how to appreciate this villager category and it makes me sad that I can't.

Uchis are amazing and definitely one of my favorite personalities in NH, I absolutely love their dialogue!! Tbh I don't even feel like sisterly/big sister is that good a name for them because it's just so vague--but then again it's not like I can think of a better one lol! But they remind me a lot of the sukeban/delinquent girl archetype in anime like Uo from Fruits Basket or even Rainbow Dash from MLP: FiM for example. I really wish there were more of them just because if there was more variety in the designs they might appeal to more people, it makes me sad that people are missing out on their amazing dialogue because of aesthetics. I think more than half of them are cute though!! Here are some of my faves:

Phoebe! Though I'm not into her house tbh, I understand that it's supposed to be a volcano and I actually love the wallpaper and flooring but the problem is that it's barren. She has hardly any furniture and most of what she does have is made of wood so it's gonna be burning up inside that volcano. I really wanna cycle her in with her amiibo at some point but I will be gifting her more furniture to make it cozier like her NL house--literally her NH wall & flooring with the NL furniture would be perfect. Either way though, I think she should be more popular because she's a phoenix and that is just the coolest thing??

Mira! I can also see her losing points from people for her house in this game which was a million times cooler in NL It's not gonna stop me from cycling her in for a bit (I'm not looking for a bunch of dreamies to permanently for a while because I wanna meet lots of different villagers) since she's one of my overall favorite
villagers, though! She has big Sailor V vibes and I love her for that, I wish she could get her astro furniture back.

Frita! Man I hate to keep saying this but... I think she's also losing what popularity she had, not for her house this time but for the general dislike of sheep in shirts which I also share. Her house is actually awesome and even better than in NL--it's such a cute little diner! Which I love because look at her, she's a precious little hamburger and fries sheep, what's not to love? Also her catchphrase "oh ewe" is a pun.

Fuchsia! I couldn't find her NH render so I went with the design for her poster because I just think that for some reason, she looks so much cuter in NH than in NL. Idk what it is but in NL I didn't like her and now I think she's so, so cute and I don't understand why her adorable color scheme and the fact that she's a deer doesn't make people want her as their uchi. Her house is really cute too.

And last but not least, Reneigh! I wasn't particularly interested in her before the game came out but I got her as my starter uchi and oh my god, I love her. It was her who taught me just how awesome the uchi dialogue is in NH. Her punny name is the best and now that I've managed to trade her back and forth with a friend to get her real house, I love it. I love her piercings and fabulous eye makeup and also, her japanese name is Riana like Rihanna and I love that. She is absolutely not leaving my island until she gets an amiibo card.


Sorry for the essay here but omg I just love the uchis, it was hard to even limit this to just 5!! In fact, honorable mentions go to Ursala (who had an adorable house filled with plants in NL, though idk if it's the same in NH or not, and whose pastel pink coloring and soft expression should really make her more popular and idk why she isn't), Plucky (possibly the only chicken I like! she's so cute and she has a beach house!), Muffy (sadly suffering the same fate as Frita and all sheep ), and Pashmina and Katt who have also grown on me more with NH!

I know I just made a big post here but looking through this thread reminded me of something--why are some people's uchis still saying that whole "you again? is this island not big enough for both of us?" thing to them? Does it not go away with friendship level increasing? Because Reneigh hasn't said that to me since like, a week or two after I started... I guess that could certainly play into people not liking their dialogue but I don't get why it happens lol and until I made a similar thread to this one a while back, I had no idea it was an issue. Unless the people with this issue just aren't getting high enough friendship with their uchis, I really hope there'll be a patch to decrease the frequency of that dialogue somehow because I hate that it's turning people off from them

I also just looked up how Katt's house looks in NH because I saw multiple people here mention it and uhhh... yikes lmao I'm gonna be totally honest, it seems almost like a struggle to find 10 villager houses that look good in this game with the limited furniture there was to work with! I'm sad that so many of the uchis are suffering from houses that are either barren or just plain ugly, they don't deserve it.

I feel like I have the opposite problem - I want an uchi or snooty with attitude so I can get more dialogue variety. So far I've had deirdre, fuchsia, diana, and vivian and all of them have been sweet and giving me the same dialogue as others from their personality. I think Freya (snooty) was the only one to give me some sass but she didn't fit with my island theme so I had to give her away and I'm starting to regret it now

Im not sure if youve seen deirdre's interior but I think its lovely! Its autumn themed :- )

If her eyes bother u maybe muffy isnt a good choice but frita seems very sweet! And if the shirts on sheep bother u you can always try different shirts (I find shirts with ruffles or organic patterns hide how squished they look haha )

I hope u can find an uchi u can vibe with!
