Two Towns, One Cartridge

I believe I may have found a way to have two different towns with the same cartridge on different devices. Here's some background: I have a 2ds and a new 3ds xl, but I'll just refer to it as a 3ds. Anyways, when I was loading the game I held down a, x, y, and b, which caused a soft reset. I later realized I forgot to do a full reset later on. Admittedly, it was pretty late when I did all this. After this, I lost my 3ds so I made a new town on my 2ds. (I was playing Wild World on the 3ds). So, I created the new town and all of that jazz. The next day I found my 3ds and loaded the game on it, only to find I had a completely different town. So, any ideas on what I did and how to fix it? It appears I goofed a bit, because I got my dream item on the 2ds town, but it won't load on the 3ds, which is the console I use.

I fixed the issue by resetting. Unfortunately I lost the 2ds town.

I don't really understand what you're saying, but I don't see how any of that could have resulted in a new town.

There are ways to have two towns on one cartridge already, which I've done before and can confirm works, but traditionally you can only have one. I could be wrong, but if the save data is saved to the SD card, perhaps that's why it's different when you switch to your other device.

i'm kinda interested in learning how to do this... but i don't want it to hurt my already created town and i don't want to hack either. but if it doesnt include either of those i'd totally do it

I'm thinking it was a glitch, or something that I did on my part. When I put it in the 2ds again, it was very glitchy and then it was reset. By itself. Then the 3ds one was finicky so I reset that one as well. I've lost my Hero's Hat so I'm pretty sad..

Just FYI for all of you, I don't believe that there is any way to have two towns on one cartridge without hacking. Anyone who says they have two towns on one cartridge is most likely using backups and that sort of thing - essentially replacing one town with another save temporarily, which is not something you can ever do normally.
