I had quite a bit of fog this morning which was quite pretty with the mist rising off of the water. I was a bit surprised they added this weather condition in and don't seem to recall it being in previous games unless I'm being forgetful. Has anyone else experienced fog yet?

Secondly, I noticed since the last general update for the switch, that if I keep shaking the same tree and picking up what's dropped to make room for more, it will keep dropping branches, pinecones, and acorns. Am I the only one who noticed this? I'm quite curious.

Edit: When I say a tree will keep dropping branches and such, I mean forever. You can keep shaking the same tree and something will always drop no matter how many times you've shaken it previously. I get what the acorns and pinecones are for, I've just never had the "infinity tree shake" phenomenon happen before lol! Apologies for not explaining myself better!

I don’t remember it being in previous games but not sure ! I haven’t seen fog on my island

According the guidebook, heavy fog occurs 09/21-02/24 for Northern Hemi & 03/21-08/24 for Southern Hemi and river/sea fog occurs 09/21-03/31 for NH & 03/21-09/30 for SH! It only occurs in the mornings (5am-9am) and if the previous day had poor weather while the current weather is sunny with weak winds!

I’m not sure about the update but I think the pinecone & acorn were always able to be shaken out multiple times per tree

I personally have never experience fog in my game, though that's prob because 1. I don't play often, and 2. I usually play around 6pm-1am.

and the thing about the trees, I've had that happen to me. that's why when I need multiple resources (like branches) I just shake the same tree about 20-30 times. I do that mostly because I'm too lazy to go to another tree (cause at least 85% of trees in my town are fruit trees) but also because it's more convenient. unfortunately I don't think trees drop any more special resources (like acorns and pinecones) if you share it more than 2-3 times.

edit: one thing to note is that I've noticed trees dropping multiple resources from the beginning. it didn't come about with a recent update.

The tree shaking I don't believe is any different than it used to be. I think people are just more aware since they're shaking trees more 😅 I mean, think they've always been able to drop more if you keep shaking after picking all the resources up, but now people (in the Northern hemisphere, at least) are noticing more since there are more, and more valuable, resources dropping from them. I stopped shaking trees for twigs ages ago since I had so dang many.

As for the fog, this game definitely added more detailed weather than previous games. I've seen fog before and it's lovely! I also love stepping outside my door in the game and looking around at the wind and thinking "oh, wow, it's not raining now but it looks like a storm is coming!" I don't believe that any previous games had such detailed weather... I've played them all, but it's been awhile, lol

I've had fog on my island, too! If I recall correctly, it was in New Leaf. Fog is my favorite weather condition in New Horizons besides heavy snow!

And the pinecones and acorns are seasonal item-drops that can be used to craft fall decorations.
