Ah, I was hoping they'd do that! I wonder if they saw my Miiverse post suggesting it.
Most likely no, but I'm very excited to see if they use the single player mechanics any other ways!
The update with these maps is coming tonight (doesn't look like either of them will be released though...) but who wants to bet that there will be new weapons in the update as well? We only have 5 left, being the Tri Slosher Nouveau, Sloshing Machine Neo, Custom Hydra Splatling, Octobrush Nouveau, and the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco.
More brushes would be appreciated k thx
Upon watching the video again, it now sounds more like "Squid Jump" to me.
I love that the Inklings are holding their games inside a gaming studio, too. At least the staff there knows the ink will conveniently disappear after the battle is over. I wonder what it's like working there with all the chaos though. Imagine an Inkstrike unleashing at your desk.
Single Player has a few weapon blueprints that can ONLY be obtained if you go through the Single Player campaign. This includes the Aerospray guns, Dynamo rollers, and a few others. Other items include the single player outfit for Inklings, and the Octoling outfit.
You also get a giant Zapfishy on your tower. Adorable. <3
As far as maps, multiplayer maps have generally been straight-forward, but elements from single player platforms have been implemented in the more recent maps. This includes things like spinning/rotating platforms, objects that push you in a certain direction (like the belts in one of the new maps), and the ability to make a platform rise and fall by shooting a fan.
I wonder if they'll eventually add those "ink lines" to one of the maps. That seems like it could be incredibly insane. A bit ridiculous, actually.
I've always thought of them adding new abilities to gear like charge/fire rate up and range up.
But that'd be way to OP and it likely wouldn't be long until Areospayers become Squelchers and chargers become literal hell.
If they altered the weapons so drastically, they would need to alter gear to compensate, so that it's still fair and balanced overall, I'd think, in which case there would be no point in altering either in the first place, because we'd be back to right about where we started, except the pacing would maybe be more hectic.
