Turnip overkill?

Today, I saw Joan was in town. So I bought some. How many? About 1m bells worth of turnips. I ate 200 by accident in the process, but oh well. =P
Anyway, I want to know, do you use turnips, if so, how much do you buy, and what do you think is taking turnips too far?

I usually buy 1m too but would prefer to buy a locker full as soon as I get rid of all my junk!

I usually buy 1m worth as well I think if you get a locker full and then keep going back and forth to someone else's town if they have a high buying price, and keep repeating that pattern. That'd be overkill for me, haha.

I usually buy 6,000 turnips (fills up locker A) if they are under 100 bells @. I am only doing this to get the badges and then I will sleep in on Sundays again. Also, I do a little bit of TT and it is very frustrating having to move the 6,000 turnips to my other town, so I can TT and then back again, just to have the high selling price back in the other town. I've already gotten the gold badge in the other town, so at least I only have to deal with it in one town now.

I drop 1mil on the station platform, then go on my second character and buy/store turnips on there.
