So I turned off streetpass for new leaf because my boyfriend and I just kept getting each other's old villagers. However, now that I've turned it off I haven't had anyone move in for ages other than ones I've invited from the camp site. Do you not get new villagers without streetpass? Or does it just take longer?

how many villagers do you have? iirc the game automatically moves them in until you have 9. after that they gotta come from campsite or streetpass or trade...
Your 10th villager will only come from streetpass, wi-fi connection with someone (if a villager is in their void, meaning recently moved out and no one took them into their town), or invitations from another town or the campsite. Otherwise, no one will move in until you only have 8 villagers again.
