I heard that if you go back one month, then one month forward, most of your grass regrows. I haven't time traveled before, and i was wondering if there were any risks besides loosing villagers, weeds, etc.

I use this technique every few months, but I TT one month forward instead of backward. I heard it's safer to avoid losing villagers. But always wait for someone to ask you to move before you TT! Then say yes or no, and TT. And I use the 3DS settings to change the month, not Isabelle's. Use the beautiful town ordinance to avoid weeds. I've done it a few times and I never lost a villager, though I'm always scared to, because TT is almost never safe.

Normally when i do this, i do this one day at a time.

When i TT to the next day, i talk to all my villagers then TT to the next day. So it is a cycle i do when i TT and it is the safest way for me to not lose an important visitor.

Although this may be a bit harder in my new save since i am making dirt paths in my new town.

It's safer to TT one day at a time in my opinion if you've never TT'd forward before. For me I'll TT 1 month like it's no big deal. I always check if a villagers is leaving or not first.

TT day by day, plant flowers over the patches, and water them. It helps it grow faster.

The beautiful ordinance takes a day to take effect so you'll have to wait for it before TTing.
Stopping a mover and than jumping ahead is safe. When you arrive a month ahead you'll need to talk to all your villagers and make sure no one is moving. Check for rumor talk, rumor mover or a ping for a move. Once you get that make sure to talk to all 10 villagers to get the where have you been out of the way. You can save/quit and start the game back up to find the villagers you haven't spoke to. Once you have a mover or enough rumor talk you are safe to TT back on month. That only counts as one day. When you arrive make sure to check on your villagers again to see if there is a mover.

I've never done the grass thing but have done a month of TTing for the golden fishing rod. I didn't want to wait till summer was over.

I've always used the in game clock.

TTing is safe as long as you follow the correct steps, which the first poster mentioned. Just be sure to play on a day to day basis until a villager asks you to move. You go through their dialogue, tell them not leave (I've never done it where I told them to leave, so I can't vouch for that, but I'd assume it'd lead to a similar outcome), and then save and quit the game. I honestly don't bother using the 3DS clock to TT, because it always messes up the ACNL clock (when you fix the 3DS clock back to the actual time/date, it of course changes the ACNL one too, but it does so by the equivalent amount of months/hours, not by copying the date/time you entered for your 3DS clock). That may have been a bit confusing, but basically, using Isabelle's clock to TT is a lot simpler for me than using the 3DS clock.

As long as you save and TT after telling a villager not to leave, you won't lose any villagers. It also helps to have the beautiful ordinance so that you don't have weeds growing everywhere. I've done this multiple times and have never lost anyone! Honestly, sometimes TTing day by day is more nerve wracking for me because I'm always scared I've missed someone's ping to move. That's why I prefer the method I just mentioned.

Is there any difference in using the 3ds clock and Isabelle's clock?

If you play other games (like Tomodachi life), the system clock will affect those. Other than that, it won't matter what one you use

tbh you only need like 2 weeks for it to regrow. make sure to stop someone from moving, tt 2 weeks forward and then tt back. tt:ing back only counts as 1 day so you'll have traveled a total of 15 days. you can travel as far forward as you want but your villagers will get more sad and more weeds will grow if you travel a long time

If i wannnt to regrow grass, i just tine travel like a week forward then time travel back to the original date. This method also seems to work. Works like a charm.
