I have just reset my island and seeing as I had been playing on my old island since release in March, there are a couple of things I can't quite remember from the first couple of weeks after you start the game. I was going to TT forward a little because I just want to get the museum, resident services building, Nook's etc built ASAP but if I do, once they're built can I go back to the present date and they'll still be there like I left them?

The other thing is, I know you have to take the first villager who sets stays your campsite whether you want them or not, but the rest of your 10 starter villagers you can get yourself if you want (using Amiibo or island hopping methods) if I remember right?

Whatever progress you make on your island will stay whether you tt forwards or backwards. so once those buildings are upgraded they will stay that way even if you return to the present day. the only thing i've seen it keep track of is if u buy something in nooks cranny then tt back to that day, the item will still be sold out

yes, it will all still be there. TT:ing backwards is mostly like going a day forward, except for the trees etc not growing, ordered items not being delivered (they will be delivered next time you go forward) and some things like that. you cannot undo things by going backwards

On the villager part of your question, you can island hop for your first three villagers (after the 2 starters). You can do it before placing any plots, which gives you much more flexibility, because you don’t just have a day. you can’t use amiibo cards until after you build the campsite and invite the first camper. But then yes you can get all the other villagers through amiibo after that.

and this is probably too much information/something you already remember, but when you island hop for the first three villagers you will only find lazy, normal, and peppies until you invite one of each, so that is another limitation on early villagers (but also gives better odds of finding specific villagers from those types).
