I've seen this be used in multiple threads.
Time Traveling Town? I'm kinda confused as to how it works.
I thought you were only allowed one town...I'm just really confused actually.

Also, I hear your town gets "messy" if you time travel. How messy does it get?
Does it depend on how often you do it? Or how far back or in you go?

I guess the whole concept just has me dizzy.

I have my normal town and my "TT town". It's true you can only have one town per game, but people with two towns have multiple games :)

And it gets pretty messy pretty quick lol. I do the weeding game with Lief every few weeks to get the cute prizes though

The idea of having multiple games just didn't pop into my head. -_- Hahaha. Oops.
And what are the pros and cons (other than mess) of TTing?

People have multiple games/3DSs, and only one town on each game (concurrent with your understanding).
Usually, one game is their main, the other is their town specifically for moving things, changing things, getting things, etc. For instance, with a second game, you can restart several times until you find a specific preferred villager as a starter, then convince that villager to move to your main village.

The town gets messy in terms of weeds, flowers, and villagers moving (changing villagers, changing locations).
The weeds and flowers part can be attenuated by instating the Beautiful Town ordinance, under which fewer weeds grow, and flowers don't die.
:) hope that clears thins up a bit for you.

If you have the beautiful town ordinance it doesn't get messy :)

Pros are that you can unlock things faster, get the villagers you want, skip back to certain times (I usually go back to 8pm a few times a night to beetle hunt and get around 400k each trip)

Cons are that if you do it too fast you could lose villagers without warning, and turnips die

You guys are totally experts haha.
Okay it's a lot more clear now. Just one more question regarding losing villagers due to TT.
Will new ones move in? Or are you just at loss of villagers there?

It seems the game won't let you have any fewer than eight villagers. Once you're down to eight, it'll auto-generate a new villager.
