Greetings fellow mayors. I have been playing for a little under 2 weeks and have been wracking my brain for ideas as to how I will go about organizing my town, or at least a plan for the future. I'm not sure if it's because I chose a weird layout or what, but no ideas are coming to mind. Maybe I'm overthinking it or it's simply too early to think of a plan.

For one, I have been trying to figure out what sort of "theme" to go by, in which what comes to mind is simply "night", but I feel it's not enough to go off of. I think if I could at least get a theme down, then I could decide on paths designs, layouts, and what projects to build.

I apreciate any kind of input.

I've been playing New Leaf for a few years now and I'm still re-arranging my town(just for context),haha:). I think if you want to really plan a theme I would google some of the future works projects you can fund and see if any of those strike your fancy about a certain theme. I would then plan around that. I would pick a path/pattern for pathways and route it house to house. Then depending on the public works stuff, benches, bridges, and path pattern. I'd move onto which flowers and trees I wanted to accent what I've placed. Towns also look different night & day so lights are a fun way to accent pathways.

That would be my way of tackling a theme. I'm sure others will chime in with their ways as well. Best of luck!!

Thanks, I'll definitly keep that in mind. I guess at the moment I'm still getting bridges sorted out to make getting around easier. So once I have that straightened and the dream suite payed for, I'll go from there.

As for flowers, this is kinda funny: I have a massive patch of yellow, white, red, and pink cosmos in the center-ish area of town because the villagers keep putting them there. It started off as like 2 flowers then everyday there was more added to the area.

I would suggest just taking your time and let inspiration come to you. As you play in your town, you'll probably start getting more ideas. When I first started, I didn't have a plan for my town and it took months before I even began to get serious about it. You don't necessarily have to have a theme or you can keep it loosely themed around the night. There are lots of celestial paths and stepping stones and other QR codes that I've seen while browsing the internet.

I'm sure you'll figure out what you want to do eventually. There's no need to rush it. :)

I see what you mean. I was saying before it might be too early to worry about planning. And I know if I decide I don't like the placement of a project I could always demolish it, or if a tree is in the way, it could be chopped down.

The only reason I want to plan ahead is to save time, and in some cases, bells. But maybe I am better off waiting for an idea to come to mind...

I looked at some of the projects, later on and they kinda have me torn between either more modern or natural, since I am a fan of both aesthetics. Honestly, the customization options are much more overwhelming then I thought they would be.
