Trouble Visiting Towns

So,
I go to the train station, connect to the Internet and go faraway town. The monkey then says "here are the towns you can visit" ... But on the touch screen nothing shows up. I have friends.

What is the problem??

One of your friends needs to open their gates, there isn't anything you can do until then. They open their gates by talking to Porter.
