Trees won't grow in my town?

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to do some landscaping in my town, except my efforts are being thwarted by my town's stubborn refusal to grow trees. I'm pretty sure that the space I'm trying to use is okay, because in most cases I'm just cutting down an old tree and replacing it with a new sapling. There are heaps of areas in my town covered in dead saplings. What's going on? Is this normal? How do I fix it? Please help! It's for the trees.

What kind of trees are they? Just asking because cedars only grow on the upper half of town. Could this be your problem?

Are they cedar saplings?

If that's the case, cedar saplings will only grow in the nothern part of your town

I second what people are saying above. Cedars won't grow on the bottom side of your town.

How many regular trees do you have in your town? There's a limit to how many trees (including bamboo & bushes I think) you can have in one area. Maybe you have too many trees already and they won't grow because of that?

I knew about the 12-square rule but I didn't know about the cedars. Maybe that was my problem. Thanks for the help!

if you plant trees in certain corners or near certain parts of the rivers they'll die as well
