Hello Darlings!
*please feell free to scroll past my ramblings to the actual point/question of this post at the bottom!*

I personally adore having the option of having a tree stump in my town...as a kid *mind you I am prolly ALOT older then like 95% of youse* there was this bad hurricane...and next door to us * where I grew up ((Sands Point Port Washington Ny) we had like PROPERTY, and sometimes your neighbors wouldn't be in very close proximity...but the neighbor on our right was in close enough prox that we could see them buuuuut there were a BUNCH of HUGE trees in between..* the couple that lived there were OLD...and VERY Crotchety. The wind was SO STRONG these HUGE trees were bending towards our home, and technically we didn't know whose trees they technically were, an that kinda bothered my dad cause IF something were to happen who would take responsibility?
Anyways, so my sister and I watched as our dad put on these HUGE like wood/metal working gloves, grabbed an axe and a chainsaw and went out in the midst of this horrible, crazy storm to CHOP DOWN THE TREES!!!!!!
I remember like it was yesterday (and when this all went down I was like..i dunno...3?!!?) watching him from the winter of our library room in our home, him fighting his way through the hail, and wind...and he chopped like 4 trees down...ALL BY HIMSELF!!! He LITERALLY like SAVED HIS FAMILY'S LIVES, cause the next day...when the storm was over...these like nature police (Port Wash and its sub village Sands Point have A LOT of like nature preserves), our towns police and some other guy came by to see what my dad had done...cause the old jerk neighbor called the cops complaining that my father DESTROYED HIS PROPERTY!!!!
Low and behold the nature police declared that 2 of the trees would've fallen onto OUR home for sure, and that the other 2 would've sliced right through our neighbors!!!!! The old man never apologized or anything, and my dad was like featured in our local paper.

ANYWAYS, After that we had these 4 stumps on our side property (cause YES it turned out the trees were OURS...and our property line was muuuuuuch larger then we thought originally..) and my sister and I would sit on them and read, sing, or play that we were these magical fairies that lived and ruled in a forest kingdom *we had a forest/beach in our back yard* and the way my dad had chopped these trees, the stumps looked like perfect lil stump chairs!!!

So...here I am YEARS, *decades really..* later and I'm playing ACNL and discover the beauty of the tree stumps in my town! I LOVE THEM!!! I cant help but have a few in all my villages!

OK NOW FOR THE POINT OF THIS POST LOL

What is with the design/patterns in the middle of a chopped tree/stump? How/why do some produce a triforce? a heart? circles?? Is there a way to make a certain pattern/design appear?? Is it the type of tree? I don't get it..if you know id love to be enlightened to this..

everytime you cut down a tree there's a small chance that you'll find another pattern on it. for example, cedars can have a cat head show up and a regular sapling can have a triforce. your chance of getting these increase if you have a golden axe and a perfect town. there are much rarer patterns like a clover and a musical note, you can only find those two on cedars though.

these are all the patterns:

It should be noted that chopping down a tree with a silver axe will produce a pattern every time. What I do is hit the tree 2 times with my gold axe, and use silver for the last hit ( so my silver lasts longer ). Also, patterned stumps can produce mushrooms!

i had a feeling the silver axe was better because i see that a lot of people want it. now i'm going to get a few lol

it's probably more due to being arguably rarer to obtain normally I feel, since it only very rarely shows up in the island shop. unlike basically every other special tool in the game, which requires you to complete some objective to obtain

like rare enough that in all my years playing, I have never *once* seen the item on my island

hopefully nintendo makes it's method of obtaining less dumb as **** in the next game

wait wait....so am I seeing this right?? The SILVER Axe will produce a patterned stump...more likely then the golden (cause I have both)????

Also I was unaware that the silver axe can only be obtained VIA Club Tortimer???????

aaaand....do only certain patterns produce the rare shroom?

Like I said, silver axe is guaranteed to make a patterned stump. Only patterned stumps will make mushrooms. Good luck!
