Tree Stump Patterns?

I read that if you have a tree stump with a pattern, a mushroom will grow near it soon. I was just wondering if it matters what season it is for this to happen? Or can mushrooms appear year round?

if you get a special stump then mushrooms will appear whenever.

Yes, it's true. I get a lot of my famous mushrooms that way. It doesn't matter what time of year it is.

I have a triforce stump. I don't know how rare it is, but it looks cool so I kept it haha even though is in a weird spot.
