treasure hunt interest check

Hi so for weeks i've been thinking about maybe having a treasure hunt on my island. I've hidden like 60 pieces of clothing and furniture on my island and I was thinking of charging a 2 tbt entry fee just as a promise to not dig up any flowers or trees only whatever is buried.

So the treasure hunt rules would basically be a group of people maybe like 5 come in and add me as a best friend so that they can dig stuff up. and i'll use one of the timers from nooks cranny so that everyone has the same amount of time to run around and dig buried treasure

thats all i have for now so lemme know what you think of my idea

i think that sounds pretty fun! just take precautions before opening your gates, like make sure there’s nothing valuable laying around - and maybe make sure to check feedback ratings :0

I think it's a lovely idea! I've never visited anyones Island apart from my best friend (that's why I have 0% feedback rating) but this is something I would be interested in!

I think this is a great idea! I'm not looking for clothes or furniture but this could help loads of people! I'd definitely check feedback, as was said, but also ensure nobody comes with a wetsuit and can access your whole island at will. As a best friend they could do loads of damage!

It sounds like a lot of fun for people who just started and just looking for anything. I do think that 5 people is a lot of people for strangers to come around with best friend status though. Maybe limit to 2 or 3 people and bury some treasure and refill the treasure between groups?

Ooh, very cool idea! I wouldn't participate (I have enough stuff and would feel greedy!)... but I may throw my own at some point, that'd be fun!

You also wouldn't necessarily have to bury the items- you could just drop them around the island, too. Maybe toss a few furniture items under trees so people wonder if they're leaf bugs or not

Maybe you could even throw two treasure hunts- one free one with no digging, and another with a fee with digging. If you throw it on here, though, I think people would likely behave themselves. From my experience, with the feedback system on here, I've only ever had wonderful experiences on here!

That's a good idea, too!

You could also maybe toss up some fences to make it more challenging! Like, they could SEE the item... but how will they REACH it?

i honestly would not trust people with digging though. instead of burying items, maybe make them hard to reach and hidden. i participated in a hunt like that once and it was fun

I wouldn't do the digging.... it'd be much easier to just wrap items in gift wrap and hide around the island. This is what I've done a couple of times. Personally I wouldn't charge (I'd ask for tips if anything), but that's just me. Feel free to set up as you'd like

Also, I recommend only opening it up to this forum and not Turnip Exchange, and set a max number of gifts a person can find. Even though I set a max # I had two people steal all gifts when I hosted on Turnip Exchange

thank you everyone for your suggestions!! i think instead of burying them i would just do as some people suggested and hid the wrapped gifts out in spaces around my island. plus it fits with my whole fairy theme i have going on plus i wouldnt have to worry about any of my plants or trees getting damaged. currently im still making my island presentable for guests but when im done i'll officially make my post for people to sign up
