Even though the wifi function is gone for this game (rip) does the DS to DS option still work? I'm planning to buy the "new" 3DS and use it to visit my town on my current 3DS. Will it work?
I believe local play will still work, yes, because you're connecting via consoles rather via Wi-Fi. I haven't played in a long while so you probably shouldn't take my word for it (I always like to start anew anyway) but I'm 90% sure it should work. If you want I could ask some technical Nintendo geeks on Reddit and see what they have to say about it.
Yeah, DS to DS still works since it's just local wireless. Of course, the systems will have to be within somewhat close proximity of each other, about the same range as your typical WiFi hub. Also, please note that Animal Crossing does not support DS Download Play so you'll need two copies of the game or an R4 card!
