So I was going around doing my April 1st event and got to my final house, which was Stitches', went in and did my thing and then left the house.

After I finished the event I left my game on for about an hour while I went and took a shower and made something to eat. When I came back I was still standing in front of Stitches' door. As soon as I walked a step away from his door he left his house. Only then did I realized I had barricaded the poor thing in his house the whole time! I figured if he wanted to leave his door would just push me out of the way or something!

This made me think of how many times I have accidentally done that to people in the store or in their houses!
Have you ever locked someone in their house before?

To be honest i did this once to Marshal and i just laughed, I'm so mean to my villagers! Anyway I'm sure he would know you didn't mean it ;)

theyre pixel villagers in a video game im sure they dont care

I haven't! I once read a post someone wrote here about accidentally forgetting their game and ending up spending the whole night at a villager's house. I didn't know you could trap them.

No, but I've done something similar. I once agreed to meet a villager at their house. When the time came, I stood right at the doorstep, unaware that they'd have to pass through me to get to their house, so the villager was just walking towards me for a full minute. I then talked to them, right there, and they're like "oh sorry I didn't make it" and I laughed hard.

I haven't locked someone in, but back when I played GC, I used to block them from going in to sleep. Usually, it was late, and I wanted someone to talk to. It was mainly Gruff, so I'd stand in front of his door and not let him go into his house.

I've just stayed in a villager's house, too. Sometimes past their bedtime; as soon as I left, the lights went out.

Hah - I don't think I've ever done this. But back in ACWW, every time Tangy threatened to move, I would stay overnight in her house, leaving my game on in sleep mode until the next day, so that she physically could not pack up and go. So cruel!

As far as I know, you can only do it to villagers. So naturally I do it every single time they invite me over.

Does the game ever kick you out of a villager's house? I have noticed the blocking behavior as well, not by refusing to move but by observation that as soon as I move out of the doorway the villager will exit as well.

I just stayed overnight at Anchovy's house by accident. I imagine that the villagers are eagerly spreading rumors of our nightly romantic escapade, when in reality, we were probably playing darts all night!

I don't think so. Did you visit when they invited you? If they would otherwise be outside, they'll exit as soon as you leave too. If they were going to stay inside anyway, they'll just there stay there. This is based on what I've noticed, at least.

wow. So theoretically, you could stay inside a villager's house for days.

That actually makes sense. I know that villagers will stay in your house until you show them all the rooms, so if you omit one, they'll just hang out until you finally take them to that last room. Makes sense that it would work the other way, too.
