Personally I think it would be cool to see some interesting new trade mechanics. I don't want someone to come over and me to empty my pockets only for them to pick them up and stuff them in the locker if it's a lot.

If it's for a quick trade I'd like either some kind of mailing system (where you can meet them in a place other than your town to create a trade)

An online market, wouldn't it be cool to upload any piece or furniture you want and set a price and anyone online can buy it? This might be bad though if an intem is very rare and someone get's very greedy.

Also maybe a better way to bell transfer. No more dropping tons of bells and running to the ABD.

For some reasons, I had to think of the GTS from the Pokemon games for a second. I like the idea,
even if there is a possibility of greedy people, I think you will still find lots of people who would offer
items to fair prices. As a addition to this, maybe you could also put a "Looking for" search online where
players can trade with you if they have an item to offer which you're looking for.

Otherwise, I also hope for new options when it comes to trade which other players.

With how the app integration works with Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros, I could definitely see something similar appear with New Horizons. There's definitely proof of a system in place where the app can "hold" something online for you to claim ingame later - so with New Horizons, that could easily be player-sent letters. You send a letter, it gets held in the "app space" until the person you sent it to claims it. I imagine there'd be some kind of limit though. Perhaps only 5 letters could be in "waiting" at a time, and if you wanted to send something new, you'd have to take an unrecieved letter back.

I can't see a GTS-like system being added at all though, because there are going to be people who cheat their game and offer everything available for a single Bell. At least with a "you can only visit friends" trading system Nintendo doesn't have to worry about the cheaters, because they'd only influence a small amount of people. If the trading system was accessible to anyone in the world, on the other hand... it becomes a much bigger issue.

it wouldn't be awful if we had an expanded sort of market box system pocket camp style, except with a lot more flexibility and customization.

for example, the choice between trades and sales, the ability to put up an item (or multiple if you choose) in exchange for a variety of choices. a specific item (or items), a group of items, a type of item, a series of furniture, a specific outfit, or even the choice to let multiple people offer whatever they choose. maybe items and bells could even be combined in offers.

speaking of pokemon it would be fun if there was something like wonder trade where you can send random items out into the world. i imagine a lot of people would just fill it with trash but you never know.

I would actually like this idea. But if I were a seller on an online market, I won’t be too greedy as I would make items easy to buy, even rare items.

The market box idea would be pretty cool. For some reason I keep thinking of the Auction House in City Folk, where people can bid bells on an item, and whoever has the highest bid gets it. I don't know why, but I feel like it would fit very well :)

I didn't mind the coming over and dropping items, but an idea for like a market box where people could look over it to see what you got would be great. If it's like the one in Pocket Camp, then trading and finding items would be easy and you wouldn't have to drop bells or items.
