I reset my town, because I had major problems with the layout. I really need help since I am AWFUL at this kind of stuff, but I was wondering.. What do you think makes a good layout? The only thing I have right now is; A private beach and apple trees. I don't want to mess up my town again so I need your help!!

Also, a side-question, do you have any tips for where to place pwps/villager houses/and paths in your town? I am awful at placing paths and houses and I need a ton of help.

I think any town layout is nice. I think it's mostly what you do with it that makes it good. I think the one and only thing I will say is prob best about a town layout would be Re-tail being close to the docks, though. Personally, putting houses near the river or towards mountain sides usually pleases me the most. Make sure your paths cover the main areas of your town and then you can make sidepaths that can lead to the villagers homes. Pwps I feel are best placed in locations where one would pass by frequently or can interact with, i.e. wisteria trellis - being able to go under it.

I stalked out where I wanted my PWP facilities to go at the beginning. I choose a spot for my Cafe, Police Station, and Campsite. Then I used those extra characters and shoved their houses there until I played long enough to open up the requests. I got the Campsite first and used that character to hold a spot for my lighthouse.

For paths, I only just recently added those. I outlined the area I thought they would go with flowers (took trips to the island and played tours to fill the basket with free flowers), so if I didn't like it after a day or two, I'd pop them up and move it. Then after I liked it using the flower guide for a few days, I added the path itself. Now I have not just a path, but one with a nice flower border. I also found it helps to connect your facilities first, along with your house. I have a lot of villagers in a row, so a path went in front of their houses. However, not all my villager houses have paths to them just yet. Most of my keepers do, but other than that, no.

Hahah! We're both resetting because of our maps! What I think is a good town is a map with a private beach, and a town where the river doesn't get in the way of all of what I'm doing. I could care less about what fruit I get, although I would want something besides cherries, which is my current town's fruit. I want a private beach to do some flower breeding and just for a quiet area. I also want a good river to give me room to landscape and the river was my main complaint about my town. There is this tiny little area which can barely fit a house... I would know since ELMER had to move there... My river made my town seem really small. I would also like my town by the beach, and in my current town, it's just below the train station. Hope this helped!

Also, I would recommend putting your buildings all next to each other. Like the Cafe, Campsite, Police Station, and perhaps Re-Tail and Town Hall next to them. And when I meant I wanted my town by the beach, instead of town I meant Re-Tail. Because every town has a beach! :P Connecting the buildings makes it feel like another Main Street!

Thank all of you guys for the tips! I think I'm going to try dirt paths for my town (it will probably be super hard, i know. maybe i can bribe people in the train station to do it for me XD), try to get my buildings all in a line/near each other. i'll also try to get my villager houses in a line by the cliff/beach side. i want apples or cherries- since those have the prettiest perfect fruit. i'll try to get a nice, straight river that's out of the way.

i'm also going to try to NOT get any of my dreamies when i first make a town. i honestly would rather pay 10mil for each one and plot reset then get one of them first time but in a ****ty spot.

i'm still looking for tips and stuff! fingers crossed for a good map

Omg that was so helpful! The only thing I don't agree with is collecting your dreamies first. When I did that, I based my dreamies off of the color they were, not their personality types, so I ended up with no jocks, crankys, snooties, or uchis. If it was me, I'd add a little blip that says >Make sure to get all of the PWP's you want before moving in your dreamies. Or just, make sure your dreamies have all of the personality types. Would have saved me so much time ;;

Besides that, that was an incredible guide and thank you so much for posting it! Still looking for town layout help though!
