I'm wondering how you guys planned out your towns, or what order you did things in. Did you build your secondary characters' houses right away so you'd have the spot, or did you wait? Did you wait to build PWPs until you had 10 permanent villagers, or did you build your PWPs as they were suggested?

How did you decide on flower arrangements? In my first town, I had the beautiful ordinance, and knew where I wanted to put flowers/gardens, but I didn't want to go through the trouble of growing hybrids and then have a villager move on top of them. So my town became infested with flowers and I got really overwhelmed by it all. With my second town, I haven't done anything with flowers. In fact, I've been letting them die off until maybe I have the 10 villagers, then I can decide what kind/colors I want. But then I feel like maybe I should be hybreeding while I wait for the villagers I want. idk what to do.

I had put a bunch of orchards all over, but then villagers moved on them, so I decided to wait until I had 10 villagers before planting anything else, but I just feel like I'm at a standstill. Esp bc I keep getting villagers I don't want, and then struggle to get them to leave. :P

Also, how did you decide where to put trees/orchards and bushes and paths and all that? idk, just looking for tips or suggestions since I felt like I had done my first town all wrong and backwards. I did do a grid plot of my first town, so I DO have an idea of what I want where, but I still feel a bit overwhelmed with planning out where to put bushes. I go to dream towns and see them looking so nice, and I feel like I'll never get there, lol. Bushes and paths and flowers just seem so perfect, and idk how to really achieve that.

So yeah, just some general suggestions or discussion on how you got your town from the beginning to where it is now!

I like to wait until i have all 10 villagers , but since i can do the plot reset trick, i plan my town before anyone else moves in. Note that i said plan, and that means no planting anything yet. Considering that this will be in terms of a brand new town, that you have less than 8 villagers, the plot reset trick will be useless because the move ins are random and you never know who or when a villager will move in. I let villagers keep moving in until i have at least 9. Here is where i start to try to figure which goes where, where villagers can move on, etc. I like to list each PWP i want in my town before planning.. that way, i can build them right away once they are requested.

I like to build permanent PWPs first because i can always work my way around them + spot is already reserved for that pwp so no one can move on it.

After I plan everything out, and I know where everything will go, I lay my path down.
also, I start hybreeding. Basically, I take large spaces in my town and place flowers of the same kind in a grid pattern.

I'm just working on my first town ever, so I just do whatever I feel like :) I don't like making these massive plans or having 10 villagers and all that. I just do whatever I feel that day ahaha

That's what I did with my first town. But then when I finally could build the police station, I didn't have anywhere to put it, so it's in a place I'm not really happy with. And then I couldn't put my third bridge how I wanted it bc other things were in the way. I got really overwhelmed later with all the flowers too.

I wanted to wait until I had 10 villagers for my second town before really doing anything. But I'm impatient. :P I've been playing my first town for a long time now and STILL don't have my 10 villagers.

I've never done the plot reset, and it kind of scares me anyway. Plus I do TT so I'm not sure I can even do it. I have all 4 characters moved into my town bc I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the houses, and I wanted to make sure I got prime real estate for them (in line with town hall).

Maybe once I have 9 permanent villagers, I will feel more comfortable putting paths down and planting things. I did build the campsite, cafe, & fountain bc I knew exactly where I wanted them. There is a list of PWPs that I know I definitely want, though now it's just a waiting game for villagers to suggest things (which they haven't yet at all).

I remember when I first started I didn't plan anything. Not on a grand scale anyways. I started putting pwps in places I thought looked nice for the requirements for a perfect town. I also planted lots of trees and brought flowers over from the island's minigames. Once I got the perfect town rating, I maintained it for 2 weeks and got the golden watering can. Tbh, only 2 pwp's that I had originally placed remain, aside from the campsite which you can't remove at all. I started to work on my town in much smaller detail after that. I would work on main areas first before I decided if I wanted anything else or moved onto less maintained areas within my town. If you are going to put down a path I think the most important place to start from is the train station. Once you get the luxury of buying bushes, etc you can start making walkways and stuff.

Chop Down Trees> Breed Hybrids (then move to beach)> Plan out General Layout (close together villager houses or spread out; What major points of interest could I have? etc.)> Acquire Dreamies> Layout Paths> Plant Trees/Lay Flowers> PWPs> Polish

Currently in the last phase, and I mixed laying pwps, bushes, and trees.

I did pick out the path that I want, and put it down around the train station and town hall. They're not even connected, but I just wanted to see what it looked like, lol. I put a pond/pool path in front of town hall too, so I hope no one moves over it. :P I haven't cut down any trees or bought any bushes yet. Should I start collecting them? obv I have no idea where I would plant them yet. I did collect some different fruits from island games and I'm saving to plant someday.

I do have a big inlet on my beach that I could use to store hybrids. That's actually a good idea so they don't keep spawning new flowers. They won't do that on the beach right?

Do you have a dream address I could visit? If that's ok.

Good you're off to a good start. You don't have to start collecting bush starts yet, but you should definitely invest in several axes while you can for trees since you can do that whenever. I was known in my town as a stump maker for a good amount of time cuz i was trimming out what i didn't like. :9 It just takes time, tbh. "Rome wasn't built in a day" as they say.

Hybrids can still grow as hybrids on the beach. That is unless you don't water them, I think.

I never have any early planning, I just go with the flow until ideas sparkle to me and I will start arranging =x

I'm...winging a lot of it haha. @_@; I do however have an idea of gridding out pathing, but that was after I let a few villagers cycle out. They basically decide (through house placements) where certain areas will be for me, then I start planning and plot resetting and all that fun stuff. I'll be enclosing villager towns in trees once I like who/where they are, which I reallllly hope will turn out nice. Actually, I hope everything will turn out nice since I haven't done much actual work heh.

Tip though: if you plan to plan, do try to build your alt houses as soon as you get an idea of what you want to do! I actually have to move out a villager I'm kind of attached to because he slapped his house right where I wanted to place the house and the third bridge and it kills the man :<

My process on town planning:
1) I don't care where villagers move in. My paths can change to their locations. I only worry about protecting my flowers.
2) Build a 1 tile wide path around buildings,PWP,houses.
3) connect the paths around my buildings with my main path.
4) build up my main path to 2 wide tiles or 3 wide tiles.
5) put flowers in patterns around my buildings and paths.
6) put trees around hard to miss places (town hall, town plaza, retail, edge of the map).
7) celebrate!
I think if you ask to search for my town. Luna will show you two Harvest towns with two Cherry. One of them is my town back in June and you could see my 1 tile wide planning progress.
