So, I just recently came back to both the forums and animal crossing, and i'm excited because i'll finally get to play it tomorrow once my new charger comes back [i lost my old 3ds charger] and i'm a bit stuck on what to make my town theme.
Here's just a list of some I like a lot.
A gloomy forest town [lots of pine trees and weeds, 'black' and red flowers, a lot of tree stumps, scattered pwps, some natural paths, some qr paths, etc]
A steampunk themed-town. [lots of steampunk-type things, white and orange flowers, a ton of oak trees, maybe a few bell trees? Natural paths, Pwps close together, stuff like that]
A winter-based town [will always be winter in the dream version, white & blue flowers, natural paths, dead trees, forcing all of the townsfolk to wear winter-themed outfits, only a couple specific pwps]

I'm edging towards steampunk town, but I feel like I should get some outside advice as well, cause it is gonna be what my town is themed for a while, unless I change it later.

yoooo, a gloomy forest town sounds really heckin' neat to me.
i just like forests. i'm going with like a flower field aesthetic myself. nature in general.

but a steampunk town sounds hella original.

Steam punk sounds like heck to pull off, but if you can do it that would be awesome, then again, gloomy forest towns are always fun to make...

Honestly. I never seen a steampunk town ever so you’d be the first for me to see it if you ever wanted to do it.

Alright, I think i'm gonna do a steampunk town. As soon as my charger comes, i'm gonna get started!

I’ve never seen a steampunk town. That sounds interesting!

Man, your ideas for a steampunk-themed town sounds like it’d be so cool. I would definitely visit a town like that, but forest towns are always pleasing to the eye—you can never go wrong with that. I’d say try your hand at the steampunk town idea.

Seems like we are getting the steampnk town, I?m excited!

Regardless, just wanted to throw in that your town doesn?t need to have ONE theme. I think the towns are still big enough to dedicate certain areas to certain themes if you like multiple themes equally. Some themes go more or less well with eachother.
For example the gloomy forest could mostly be done in the northern part of your town anyways because you cant have the pine trees in other areas. You could have a steampunk town and dedicate a part of the northern town to be a creepy/gloomy forest.

The town itself could be set in a warm-colored theme during autumn with steampunk-themed designs/strucktures in most areas.
Since the flower colors you suggested are also complimentary, you can make a smooth transition: white flowers in the center of the steampunk areas to highlight them against the other warm colors of the trees and grass. Then more and more orange mixes in to balance the lack of steampunk-themed designs/strucktures towards the edges. The orange mixes in with more and more red as you get closer to the forest and then you loose all the orange and get a few black flowers instead. In the middle of the forest all flowers have become black.

So yeah, I think you dont need to decide on ONE theme. If you like other themes, and think they could fit well together, that can make for a very interesting and unique town!
Have fun landscaping and don?t forget to share your work once you are done! (*⁰▿⁰*)
