I REALLY hope this is the right place for this -- I've checked every portion of the forums and didn't want to clog up the actual Villager Trading Plaza, so...

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone could perhaps give me any tips on how to start cycling? I'm getting a third copy of NL tomorrow, and not only do I want it to be my third and final town, but I also want to use it for cycling.

So, with that in mind:
  • Do I ever talk to any of the villagers? What if I want to keep one buy cycle the rest? How do I manage that?
  • How much will I be TTing? Months? Years?
  • Do I have to build my mayor's house and such or is that worthless for a cycler?
  • When I start settling on villagers, how do I ensure they stay while the rest move? Simply talk to them and ignore the rest?
  • To clarify, I talk to every villager once, and then ignore them the rest of the time so they move faster, right?
  • A cycling town CAN be made into a permanent residence, right?
  • Do I need to enact Beautiful ordinance?

Thank you all so much for the help in advance! I'd really like to help people get their dreamies. I'm just really fuzzy on the details.

I personally haven't cycled, but I think I can answer a few questions?
When you cycle, go two days forward, two days back. Then run around waiting for a villager to ping you that they want to move, then you TT to their move date.
Building the mayors house is required for a camp site, which is a good way to grab popular villagers, so I'd do it xD
If you do the two forward two back method, you just tell the villagers you want to stay not to move.
It can be made into a permanent residence
And only if you don't want tons of weeds and dead flowers.
Hope that helps :3

Okay, thank you!! Is it okay if I use another TTing method? That one has proven to be faulty and you can lose villagers to the void, I use Bamdom @ Tumblr's method. But thank you so much for the help ;u;

I've only been cycling for like a month. I read a lot of guides and tips and this is what's worked best for me.
  • Do I ever talk to any of the villagers? What if I want to keep one buy cycle the rest? How do I manage that?
I Talk to the ones that I want to move most if I see them. If there is someone I want to keep, I ignore them. Someone I want to void or trade or giveaway, etc, I talk to and try to do the best to do what they ask me to do if they give me a task. I had Violet totally refuse to move and I had TTed for like months. Lol, finally I just started being her best bud and that's when she finally decided to move. From what I've noticed, the people I'm friendlier with are indeed the oned that move first.
  • How much will I be TTing? Months? Years?
Nah. I do the 2 days forward 2 days back method. It's more reliable, IMO.
  • Do I have to build my mayor's house and such or is that worthless for a cycler?
People never asked to move until I upgraded my tent and then upgraded my house once. Once I unlocked the island, people started moving. But I haven't expanded any more than that.
  • When I start settling on villagers, how do I ensure they stay while the rest move? Simply talk to them and ignore the rest?
What I do: get a megaphone and call everyone's name. Go to the ones who respond, see if they ping. Usually someone does and wants to move, say yes or no depending on if you want them to move. If no one wants to move, I talk to one person like 15 times to see of they say something like "so and so was saying they want to move." Then if they do, o TT one day forward and find the person who wants to move. If they don't mention someone, then I continue the 2 forward and 2 back method.
  • To clarify, I talk to every villager once, and then ignore them the rest of the time so they move faster, right?
Nah, be friendly with the ones you want out :)
  • A cycling town CAN be made into a permanent residence, right?
    Of course.
  • Do I need to enact Beautiful ordinance?
I did. If weeds don't bother you, you don't have to. But I prefer to.

When i cycled i just tt'd 5 days at a time. This is assuming that you dont care who ends up boxes. I never lost a villager this way.

hey i've cycled on cycling town for awhile now and i cycled a bit on my main too.
personally i don't talk to the villagers who i want to move at all...i don't even introduce myself to them when they move in. 75% of the time they move out faster if i don't talk to them. i've had a few villagers move out within 2-3weeks of living in my town. i have had stubborn ones who have lived in my town for over 6months in cycling time, so it's a hit or miss. i talk to the ones i want to keep so they remember me…that way if they consider leaving they'll ping me if i walk past them.

building your house up doesn't matter at all. if you want to keep that house, you can build it up so it builds faster while you cycle. you don't have to wait a day for it to build.

if you have hybrids, i def would enact beautiful ordinance so that your hybrids don't die. beautiful ordinance def helps prevent less weeds from popping up.

there's no right way to cycle, but it's whatever way you're comfortable with. goodluck!

You can use any method you want, it's just what I've found reliable when I want to move out a certain villager.

The two days forward, two days back method is mainly for cycling in your main town when you want to keep the date correct and have a chance to stop movers. If you just want to move villagers out quickly, just start a day after 6AM, save and quit, move a day ahead and do it again, and on the fourth or fifth time Isabel will tell you who's in boxes that day. No one will be voided and it's quick, but only do it if you don't care who may leave.
