I hope this post is allowed here. If not my apologies.
I work at a toy store and it's a very different job than the one that I've been doing for most of my life - but in a good way. One of the differences is the people I work with.
Most of them are much younger than I am, high school and college students for the most part and it amuses them that an older person such as myself, bought and plays regularly on a 3ds. ( I don't know why - it's not like there's an age limit on those things... but I digress. )
Everyone at work knows I play ACNL and if they see me on my lunch they'll ask how the town is going or look over my shoulder as I proudly show off my newest PWP or outfit of the day.
Last month we got updated capsule machines at work and one of them was for the ACNL charms. Each capsule costs a Tooney ( That's a Canadian 2$ coin ) and every morning on my way in, I would put in my coin, turn the handle and try my luck. My co-workers soon caught on to my new obsession and ask me what I was doing wasting my money on over-priced miniatures.
I explained that I was trying to get the Rosie figurine for my daughter. ( She was so delighted when Rosie arrived as a villager in her town and Rosie is easily her favorite character. ) I wanted to get Rosie so she could put her charm on her DS like I had KK and the Roost Coffee cup on mine. By this time I had won tons of Coffee cups, Apples, Nooks and Loids... and don't even get me started on the fossils, but no Rosie.
Ah well, everyone has to have a hobby.
The other day the vendor came in to fill the machine. Everyone who was working asked him if he could get a Rosie for this crazy fan obsessed ACNL player who worked there. He explained that the capsules were filled at the factory and he couldn't tell which one contain what. The only way to tell if there was a Rosie would be to open each capsule individually and visually check to see what was inside. He didn't have the time to go through the nearly 200 capsules that were in the bag as he was on a route.
My co-workers volunteered to do the searching. I don't know how long it took them, but they finally found a Rosie. There was 1 in the entire batch. ( So I guess she's as hard to find in Real Life as in Game. ) They were so proud and pleased as they presented the wee tiny little thing for me.
They may not understand my compulsive playing of the game.... but what a great bunch of people I work with.
