Hmm, this is actually quite a hard question to answer, i've never really thought about it. I guess my favourite item would be the Mush Lamp, since it's also my favourite recipe and I think it just looks super cool, and i'm also planning on using it all around my island. For the second item, i'd have to go for a very similar item, the Hyacinth Lamp. Same as the mush lamp pretty much, I love how it glows and how it fits very nicely in a forest themed area/island. Now for the third and last item, hmm.... i'd say the Snacks/Drink machines (yes I count them as the same item because they are very similar). They look very nice in a shopping area or even just next to benches at a little rest stop, and I think it would be really neat to collect all the different colours along with the candy machines and create one of those big Japanese gacha machine areas.

My favorites seems to be other's favorites as well lmao, well I understand why they are pretty popular, but still will share my favorite items in the game so far:
1. Mush lamp - I use this EVERYWHERE on my island, since it fits my theme! I like every Mush items but if I'm going to pick one as my fave it's definitely the Mush lamp (I even bought the DIY for this when it's still quite pricey, planning on buying the other Mush DIYs already since I'm already starting on decorating my island + it's way cheaper now compared to before).
2. Nova light/Star clock - I fused them since they basically serve the same purpose in my island (Star clocks when faced backwards just looks like mini Nova lights so I use that for variation of sizes), I don't use them as much as my Mush lamps but I use them on certain areas where I think they'll look good, this used to be my favorite item before I discovered Mush lamps lol.
3. Stall - This is such a great item tbh, it's very flexible, I use this a lot when I want to build different areas in my island (I have a plant shop, waiting shed & pottery area using stalls).
Honorable mentions:
Hyacinth lamp - I don't use them on my island atm but I'm planning on trying them out, I just have to find me some purple hyacinths for making them lol (yes I like glowing stuffs, I'm decorating the outside of my island first so light sources outside is a must).
Mush low stool - probably my second favorite item from the Mush series, I use them for decor or literal stools for my table, they look so cute lol.
Cushion/Zen cushion - they're really flexible and could be customized to be something else other than being a cushion for sitting so I use them a lot as well (like I made a pile of zen cushion look like fertilizers/sacks).

I hope they bring back more food items. Also really like the look of the fall DIYs and Chistmas DIYs.

I also want to say that the bonsai will always be special to me because I used to give them to my brother on the GameCube version, because he loved them. He has been gone 8 years now. He would have been 26 today (it's August second where I am).

I love tiny plants. Terrariums and succulent plants bring me joy.
Mushrooms. Absolutely any kind. Furniture and pickable ones. Really every pickable item in fall: shrooms, leaves, acorns.
Typewriter. I could only wish to own one in real life. The clicking sound when interacting with it is very satisfying.
... can I also shout out books? They are also my absolute favorite. Stack of Books, Wooden Bookshelf, and all 4 kinds of Books.

When I first posted this I was frustrated with and hating my garden room, so I posted my favourite nautical items
but I now can’t decide between those and the garden wagon, cherry blossom pondstone and cherry blossom branches :’(

in no particular order:
barrels - this item is just so versatile you can use it in any theme and it'll fit right in. my island has tons of barrels and they just look like they belong there. bonus points for being able to put something on top.
wedding candles - almost the same reason as the barrel but if you wanna up your fancy game, wedding candles is your choice. i find them better than the golden candles.
mom sweater: love them. i wear them more than the custom designs. my favourite is the beige one with a flower wreath in the middle
