I haven't touched anything Animal Crossing OR 3DS related since 12-26-2015. I found out on that day that my husband and I are going to be first time parents. <3

I really want to play my town but I don't know how to get back into it. First, I need to make sure none of my villagers move out, I know I can do that before I log into the game somehow. How did some of you get back in the flow of things after taking a break? I have 3 towns right now, I know.. I know. 2 are for cycling and 1 is my main HOWEVER, I think I am going to start a new town on one of my cycling towns as a secondary REAL town and try to build that one up.. If you've seen my main town you would know why, there is not one single place where there ISN'T junk. Lol

Suggetions/comments/...help?

:D

Since you remember the date on which you stopped playing the game, you can move the clock back to that day and everything should be normal. Afterwards, you can time travel day by day until today so as to make sure the villagers you want do not leave. It sounds a bit tedious, but I think that is the way.

By the way, congratulations on your parenthood! :lemon:

Firstly, Congratulations!

When I am planning for a break, I keep playing day by day (in real life time) until someone asks to move.
I'll tell them no, and then save the game. After that, it's pretty much set for whenever I want to play again.

Thank you :) I just don't know how to get back in the flow!

thank you :) I guess it's jsut the thought of turning it back on it making me mentally cringe lol I really do want to play it again though..

Congrats on being parents! ^~^

To get back into things, I'd start by cleaning your main town up (sell everything you don't want, and if you can't fit everything you DO want in your house or closet, put it in your museum display rooms). It's a pain, but it'll be so satisfying to have a clean town again that you can do whatever you want with :3

If you don't want to jump straight into cleaning, however, start doing things like earning badges, or decorating your house(s). You can visit a bunch of dream towns, go fishing or bug hunting, do some island tours (by yourself or with randoms on the international island), you can make some custom designs which eventually your villagers will start wearing, and you could even make a baby themed room in your mayor's house (baby bed, kiddie furniture, all the different teddy bears customized however you want, etc).

If you don't feel like setting the date back to the last time you played, start with a new character go around and check to make sure nobody has moved or is in boxes.

If someone is missing then go ahead and set the date back to when you stopped playing and play a few days at a time. They should still be there when you load up your mayor, just make sure someone pings you to ask about moving before you tt forward.

If no one is missing or in boxes, then just load your mayor and play on. You'll have to visit the salon and fix your hair (unless you like the bed head look) and your villagers will say something about missing you, but it's so much easier to start that way after a long break than going back and playing day by day.

Everyone else already said what tips I was going to give you, but I just wanted to say congrats on becoming parents! :)

Congratulations on becoming a parent!

I would say just start playing and I am sure you will get back into the flow.

Congrats on becoming a parent!

If it were me in your situation, playing one of my towns for the first time in a long while, this is what I would do.

Set the DS clock (not the in-game clock!) back to the last day you played your town. Check that everything is normal, and then TT day by day until a villager pings to move. Once they do, deny their request, then save and quit. Set the DS clock forward to present time. When you log onto your game, your villagers will be upset that you were gone for so long, but no one should have moved out on you.

Congrats on being a parent!
I don't really know any tips that I can give you apart from to just start playing and you'll eventually get into it, that's what I usually do. Personally, animal crossing is one of those games that you can play for ages and get really addicted, and then you just stop playing it for ages, and then get back into it. It's like a cycle.

Thanks everyone :) I am still trying to get back into it but doing better :) I find myself wanting to get RID of some of my "dreamies" to experience other villagers. I worked so hard to get the villagers I have now and It's like... why did I want them THIS bad.. LOL Animal crossing will still always be my favorite game of all time though, since I was 12 years old I've played animal crossing daily to weekly and I'm 26 now! I hope my child feels the same xD
