Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Direct! 1/29/2026

I'm looking forward to this one! I never played Tomodachi Life on the 3DS, it sort of just passed me by, but I've found an interest it in in the last year and really want to get this new one! I'm intrigued mostly regarding how the region (island?) is set up this time and what areas there are!! Hopefully they'll show off some cool interactions as well and where the Miis can live.

Can't wait for a new Tomodachi game, but I hope that it doesn't have the game key card like Pokopia.

I was wondering about that myself. It’s strange how DK Bananaza isn’t a key card despite having a lot of data yet there’s one game that I can’t think the Hitman collection is a key card despite only having 41 GB of Data.

It's a Nintendo developed title, so I'd expect it to be the same as DK, MK: World and the Zelda games and be a fully physical game. Pretty sure they released a statement that their titles wouldn't be only key cards? Though theoretically by now they could've come back on that.

Either way, I'm excited for it! The 3DS game is probably my third most played game on the console after Animal Crossing and the Final Fantasy rhythm game lol

That was amazing! I was honestly worried about it suffering from many of the same issues as New Horizons, but so far, it seems like nothing of the sort. I was personally worried about the possibility of the customisation aspect being overdone, but after watching this direct, i cannot wait to customize my island and see how other people have customised theirs! I did notice, however, the concert hall seems to be absent. I am sure if that is the case, they have not scrapped the concept entirely. If i recall correctly, Miis would sing in their rooms in Tomodachi Collection, so i would imagine it would be something like that.

It's refreshing to see that they added options to be NB, as well LGBT romance. Even though I'm not LGBT, I'm going to try and get my character hitched with the other female mii I use as a mascot pretty much.

Also, I'm enjoying all of the folks calling the game 'woke', but little do they know. In both the Japan-only DS game Tomodachi Collection and the Japanese Tomodachi Life 3DS, it was possible to have adult and child miis fall in love and get married and apparently that was okay. Like a 5 year old can ask out a 50 year old. I'm not kidding.
That kid-o-matic spray that was in the game did not exist in the Japanese one and the grown-up spray only works/stay on is when the characters get married.

I have played both of those games and it creeped me out whenever a child or adult mii tries to ask the other out. Like one time, a child mii tried to hit on my character (aka Me) who was in her late 20's at that time and I had her dating someone already.

I'm so excited for the non-binary gender option! I hope they won't backtrack on it because of the haters' pressure.
There's a lot of customisation available in that game too! I find this to be a bit overwhelming and I think my island will remain pretty simple but I'll look at the amazing things people will do through screenshots of their games.

Overall I can't wait for april and the game release.

I’m honestly really pleased with everything that was shown! I love me some customization so that obviously stood out the most to me. Being able to design the island and give Miis more personality with quirks has me so excited. I also love how the Miis look and that you can create and style so many different ones. Can’t wait to play!!

it would be very disappointing if they cut it especially since the game is literally named after a song in the first game

I was very shocked they added an explicit non binary option. I thought they’d do what ACNH did and just add two “styles” that are clearly based on male and female but don’t do anything really

Oh no already?

Now I wonder if we can use QR codes or something to scan Miis into the game. I would like to bring some of my Miis over to this game.
There'll might have to find a way to implement that in the Switch app, especially considering that the Switch 1 doesn't have a built-in camera. I also noticed the announcement didn't say anything about access codes like what Miitopia has.

That said, I've been blown away by the new features and I look forward to getting it when it comes out! It's pretty much become New Horizons but with Miis, amiright?

Oh, I hope not... That would be a bad move on Nintendo’s part.

I am absolutely blown away, I was kind of expecting LGBTQ+ options for the Miis but I didn't expect to have a customizable island too! I'm also happy for more Mii customizations, I can't wait to make a bunch of Miis of my friends and favorite characters. :D

I am so excited for this game. It looks like it will be a really fun game. So excited to see the customization options.
I think this is one of my favorites
