Why Prabha LOVES Tokyo Ghoul.
Well, you see. (Sit down, it'll be awhile) When I first watched Tokyo Ghoul.. I was thinking "Oh hey.. This is going to probably be like Code Geass, or Naruto er some shounen shiz." So I was an episode in. I saw that nerdy boy character and I was like "What the heck.. He reminds me a lot of myself.. But why is he such a crybaby. Kaneki? Wow he's sort of annoying."
Honestly that first episode grabbed my attention. The animation was very good imo in that episode, and the plot grabbed me by the throat.
literally what happened to Kaneki
So I was like "Yay! I've found myself a nice anime. It's been awhile since I've seen something nice"
I got a few episodes in... And I see all the new characters. Touka, Nishiki, Hide, Manager... Cute characters.
THEN THIS PURPLE HAIRED BEAST COMES INTO PLAY. WHO IS THIS MAN?! -I thought. Tokyo Ghoul suprised me with the character, "Tsukiyama". Probably one of the best parts of Tokyo Ghoul because TRES BIEN.
Anyway, so Kaneki kept losing fights and was so very rude to the charscters trying to help. I didn't like him at all.. He was annoying, cried about everything, and I COULDNT STAND THE GUY. (This is news to lolipup)
Anywho I really liked it because there was blood, and gore (sadly censored somewhat)
There was drama, and everything was getting really exciting. The characters is probably my favorite part of Tokyo Ghoul. The most interesting characters are: Rize, Tsukiyama, Takasuki-San, and Suzuya.
Those characters made me go WOW many times because they were so interesting and grabbed my attention immediatly.
So the first season ended off completely not how I expected. I had no idea that white-haired hottie in the intro would turn out to be... Well... KANEKI. When Kaneki started to get manipulated/ tortured (I started feeling bad around ep 8)
I really felt for him, and I started to enjoy his character. The torture scene was fantastic. Best part in Tokyo Ghoul as a whole, besides when we first see Kaneki's Kakuja.
That's all I have to say for first. I'm not even going to talk about second, because..
jk Honestly.. I DIDNT enjoy it. Kaneki barely had screen time, and everything was too rushed + Kaneki joining aogiri (not like in the manga) was stupid. It should've followed the manga. I only liked when Kaneki's Kakuja came out (because of animation, and EXTREME FANGIRLING) and the last episode where Hide and Kaneki reminisce about the old days hoping they could revisit. (Though they couldn't which was tear provoking)
Now the impressive part about Root A was the soundtrack. The soundtrack added so much more to the story because I felt it really got the emotion out of us. The OP to Root A was genius. I had a gist of what the song meant, but I looked up the meaning and honestly it describes Tokyo Ghoul in such a beautifully put poetical way that .. It's amazing.
That's all I have to say about Root A.
The manga was entirely different (root a comparative) and I enjoyed it a lot. I did read the manga part way through when Root A was still being released, and it quenched my thirst for more tg. it was FANTASTIC. I loved the extra character development of both Kaneki, and Tsukiyama. I had a better understanding of all of them now because the manga explained everything with more depth. The art wasn't censored either and had a different ending with DONTREADTHISIFUDIDNTREADTHEMANGA him getting stabbed by Arima and "dying" YOUCANREADNOW
It was beautifully written, Ishida.
now tokyo ghoul re is ongoing and I am still reading. The plot is slowly accelerating and I'm excited to see what it beholds.
-this para is deticated to Kaneki- So as you know, I didn't like Kaneki at first. But I slowly liked him more and more and by the end I was/am OBSESSED with his character. I loved his insane side of his personality, and when he acted deranged.. I died. It was gorgeous. Beautiful. Magnificent. I saw my soulmate. Jk.
Anyway he's amazingly developed in the manga, and has such a dynamic change that it made me jump for 10 minutes straight. Why? Bexause I was Fangirling for the first time in awhile because this anime character is the best thing ever.
So why do I love Tokyo Ghoul? Because it took my character (KANEKI), buckled it on a roller coaster, and smashed it in half when the coaster was done.
I like the emotions it makes me feel, and it's made me more grateful for what I have because Kaneki has it so much worse than I do.
AND I LOVE TG BECAUSE OF KANEKI OH MY I LOVE THAT BOY. Ooof <3
