1) Debate focus: Lady Gaga couldn't continue what she was doing had she taken time time out to go to rehab, she probably couldn't afford a more expensive help option

2) She didn't write the book, nor did she authorize it. (I don't know why the headline refers to it as an autobiography) So it could all be BS anyway.
1.) you mean to say that going to the hospital 6 times costs less, and doesn't take as much time out of her schedule, compared to some form of rehab/help program?

2.) then who did write it? i require sauce.
1) Couldn't tell you bout cost, considering American healthcare is all foreign to me. (Again, the whole thing could be BS)

2) Click the ]1.) cool.
still, if you go into the hospital for something like that, i'm at least fairly certain that doctors would want to try to re-energize your body with good food/nutrients/not ship you back out after they pump you with energy for a day/night. I'd assume that it would take at least a few days, if not at least a week to get her back up-to-speed, health-wise.

2.) http://www.nbcmiami.com/entertainment/celebrity/New-Book-Reveals-Lady-Gagas-Dangerous-Dieting-Secrets-102252969.html
you mean that?

when the book drops, i'm fairly certain it'll have at least some sources for the accusations. too lazy to search youtube for the claim that she passed out on stage in new zealand. going to assume anything past that is speculation.

with that being said, this whole topic is pointless.

I personally believe sources and media more than what she says. Those sources and media are insanely good at their jobs, and dig so much information out of celebrities. Granted they are wrong a lot, but they're also right in many cases.

Gaga on the other hand is behind a ton of management and contracts where she has to keep up a good appearance, and besides, she's not exactly going to admit to bad stuff and drive fans away.
The media are full of rubbish., they're good at their jobs, yes, but their job isn't to be truthful! It's to sell copies of their magazine, get hits for their website or whatever it is.

If you believe the media then you're obviously unaware of the fact that they're just trying to make money. Lady GaGa on the other hand, really doesn't care about her money. She has a strong fan-base and can afford to be honest to them.
Yes, they are just trying to make money, but you're naive if you think every piece of information the media spews out is rubbish. A decent chunk of it has atleast some merit, and they have no backlash if they do tell the truth.

Gaga DOES care about money, same with everybody else in the world. And yes, she may be able to afford to be honest to her fans, but her management and contracts won't let her. I don't believe anything celebrities say when they have management behind them.

Besides that management fact, why would she be honest to her fans? She seems the kind of person that was bullied at school, had tons of troubles growing up and nobody accepted her. Because of that she hides all her flaws so that people will like her. Why would she risk telling her fans the truth when she might lose the only people that have ever liked her?
Are you telling me that her management would make her keep her diet from her fans when they've let her tell us about:

A) How she's took her clothes off at shows before
B) She does drugs and has had some serious drug issues in her life (Which are now mainly resolved)
C) Details on her sex life and let her talk very sexually to her fans

Yeah, I think they'd let her tell us about her diet. She's not some "super being", if she really had a diet like that, she wouldn't be able to cope with the amount of touring she does.

Sure the stories ARE usually based off something and have some truth and that truth is basically that she's on a very strict diet. The last time she had to cancel one of her shows was April and that was because she had overworked herself with shows and promo every day for a week with little to no sleep.

Trust me, her diet is healthy.

Oh and I find it pathetic that "Trevor" (LOL what a douche bag name, were you born 40 years ago or something?) still feels the need to take the piss out of me too.

Yes, I do think that.

A) That's part of her "act", it's what's unique about her and what gets publicity.
B) Again, most likely for publicity.
C) Refer to answer A.

As for the diet, I believe the media over her or you. There's a billion reasons why she or her management wouldn't want something like that to be public.

And are you seriously making fun of somebody's name? How old are you?
OHMYGOD YOUR NAME IS SAMMM OHMYGOD YOU HAVE A GIRL'S NAME HAHAHA.

You know what you can all think what you want, I don't have to defend her from the media. Go ahead and rip her to *censored.3.0*ing shreds because I don't give a *censored.2.0* what you think of her and I'm sure she doesn't either.

i bet you think fox news is fair and balanced, too.
you know it.

edit: very yes, samwich.

she shouldn't, and neither should you.

the point is still there that she should/could have gotten help, though, if not only for her own sake.

of course, like i said in a previous post @ ciaran, the entire topic is a moot point due to the book not being released yet.

I don't think the media is fair and balanced at all, but I sure do believe that they've got more of a reason to tell the truth than Lady Gaga or her management.

How does "she had an eating disorder" negatively affect your view of her. Lots of people get that and it is a serious problem our current culture perpetuates. It isnt even always a social thing though. I might very well have a bit of an eating disorder. If I don't force myself to eat more than I feel like I really don't gain any weight.

Fact is it is a problem, it can be caused by being oversensitive to criticisms, but can you really blame someone for that? People have done much worse things because of hazing which includes drugs and suicide, and though I disagree with how they dealt with it, I cannot bring myself to blame them, especially if they are fighting it, and admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

this is my biggest question

like "oh, hey, <artist> talks about drug abuse in his songs and *censored.2.0*. that's deep, i can get behind that!"

"oh *censored.3.0*, lady gaga has an eating disorder? get that *censored.3.0*ing self-destructive behaviour OUT OF MY HOME."

my point was she could have gotten professional help instead of just going to the hospital 6 times. i also thought she had written the book herself.

point is made about artists who abuse their body/are addicted to drugs as a similar concern.

don't know how to say it correctly, so pardon me if i *censored.3.0* it up, but if you're concerned about drug abuse, why aren't you concerned about gaga's dietary abuse?

I myself have no problem with artists talking about durgz and etc, and as such have no problem with gaga's music.

bleh @ this. agree with sporge saying admitting is first step and his general post, though i still believe she should have gotten help instead of going to the hospital 6 times.

of course, the validity of this book is what my point/this thread rides on completely, and as it hasn't been released yet, lol @ this thred.

And even then, it could all be liezzzzzzz

i'm not concerned about any artist's drug abuse.

it's an issue that they and their loved ones need to take care of, and not one for their fans to freak over. especially not gaga fans, she straight up flipped them off, what makes them think she'll give a *censored.3.0* if they're worried about her alleged eating disorder?

^

I would love GaGa if she had eating disorders, drug problems, drinking problems...the fact is, she makes good music and she has talent. You don't have to like her for anything else.

So? There are ridiculous expectations around female performers these days, for most people image comes before music, and Lady Gaga's habit of using her body as a mean of putting her ideas forward doesn't help.

And also Olivia, there's this wonderful little website called tumblr you might have heard of, please keep the, 'I just redecorated my bedroom' posts there.
I agree.

Lady Gaga is amazing, there's no reason to take down a picture of her because of something in the past.
