i got the game on march 20 and my first island was also created on march 20, and today i reset my island, i got the dream islad i wanted (peach+tulips+blue airport), now i only debate with myself if i should push my clock to march 20 or not? here are my thought:

1) i don't like to TT and never did, and i feel that pushing back the clock would count as TT and i feel like later down the road i'll regret it.

2) looking at a wrong date while playing kind of sucks out the fun for me.

3) buuut if i'll go with the current date, i won't have the special starting date i had which is the release date of the game :/

4) i don't really care about the events i missed

5) i want my progress to be genuie, what i mean is for example the nook stamps got dates on them so i'd actually want to get them on the real date that i got them and not a fake date :/

i guess my problem is that any other date will not feel special like march 20 but on the other hand i really don't want to play with an offline clock :/

so i'm just looking for some opinions to help me finally decide ...

it seems like there's more drawbacks for you if you tt back. just because your current island isn't starting on march 20 doesn't mean that your island is any less special; i would just stick to the current date, otherwise you'll begin to dislike your progress if you have to tt.

you could just make your starting date the 20th, then sync back up to current time once you finished the setup/intro! That's what my one friend did since he got the game late :]

I'd do this as well, this way you don't have to relive through the hellish bunny day event, and if you just tt once it wouldn't really be cheating? But you'd still have that symbolic start date.

Maybe make a memorial for your old island, design some kinda stone tablet with the date you started NH and the date the old island sunk to the bottom of the sea. Make it part of your new island’s history.

Speaking as someone who literally did this, my advice is don't. Because I just ended up resetting that island too. I'm on my third island now and have stopped all time travel. I also started my first island on the game's release day. I then reset due to time travel. Then on my second island i was sad that I didn't have a special start date anymore so I time traveled to give myself that but it ruined my nook stamps and I felt crappy about it and eventually reset again because I just wasn't happy. Now I'm on my third and final island and have not time traveled even once. I still have a cool start date 05/10/20 even though it isn't the release date. It was Mother's day and also the numbers just look nice together. So really, it probably won't be worth it to you because you may just go through what I did and end up resetting over and over never really being happy...

Edit: Just had to fix a typo where I accidentally wrote reset instead of TT but otherwise I made my point lol

what that will do is give me the island creating stamp on march 20, and the rest of the stamps progress will continue from may... it would really feel unnatural

Just because you got the game on March 20th doesn't mean you have to start from there. The date is meant to represent when the island was created I think. Especially if you're going day by day it's nice to look back on your true island creation date and see how far you've come since then.

The date you start your island actually determines your secondary/sister flower. If that matters at all.

I restarted from release date and it was a nice change of pace from the daily grind for a while. Event items will probably cycle as well.

I know lots of people do it, but I really don’t understand setting your date to the release date. The truth is that you did not start your Island on that day, and no number on a passport is going to change that.

There is nothing—absolutely nothing—wrong or lesser about having a different starting date. Maybe ask yourself why you think March 20th is more special. Personally, I’d suggest going with the real date for several reasons, but this is the strongest one: today is the day you found your Island. You didn’t get a perfect Island, the one you’ve been hoping for, on March 20th. You got it today. Doesn’t that make today the most special day? I definitely think so!

Point is, you started playing March 20th and you did play all these days. Your island shouldn't represent something false imo, it's fine to redo everything you already done. You'll miss out on a lot of playtime this week for these days, that's a fair exchange - you miss a lot from everyday.

If you do do that, you have to remember a couple of things:

- Talk to everyone daily
- Check evenings for the ghost or Celeste, and fish/catch then as well
- participate in events even if you just get the first item
- try to regularly fish/catch/fossil (for new things) so there's not a two month gap between your achievements
- going back a day will count that day as a new day and mess with your achievements
- money rock so that you don't have to grind for your daily purchases
- check town hall daily and buy K.K. music

Optionally, I'd suggest buildings houses out of the way so you can terraform and move things in peace.

Seems like the best person to answer this question will be you as others will have their own opinions on TT and even starting date and how important that is.

If starting date is the most important factor (As kind of like an anniversary) then that's your answer and no regret moving forward.

If it's going to cause you so much mental anguish... then don't TT

2) looking at a wrong date while playing kind of sucks out the fun for me.
Then...
Don't...
TT.

3) buuut if i'll go with the current date, i won't have the special starting date i had which is the release date of the game :/

Special starting date? Is it really that serious? You can't have your cake and eat it too. TT'ing seems to cause you severe mental unrest, but you want the same starting date. That date is gone; you're not going to get it back without TT'ing. You have to come to terms with this, and you need to make a decision.

4) i don't really care about the events i missed
Okay

5) i want my progress to be genuie, what i mean is for example the nook stamps got dates on them so i'd actually want to get them on the real date that i got them and not a fake date :/

So any date that isn't the original date is fake? Oookay then...

i guess my problem is that any other date will not feel special like march 20 but on the other hand i really don't want to play with an offline clock :/

I guess this means you're going to have to live, perpetually disgusted by the fact that you no longer have your special starting date, because you also hate TT'ing. Seems like you should have put more thought into resetting before you went ahead with it.

so i'm just looking for some opinions to help me finally decide ...

Nothing we say can help you now. You already reset. Your original starting date is gone. You have to overcome this trial on your own. You have to do some soul searching; you have to conquer your disgust for TT'ing in order to get through this. I wish you luck.

If you don't like to TT and don't want to try, then I wouldn't start it back that far. Personally, I did when I restarted, but I time-traveled back up to the correct date playing a day at a time. I caught up a few weeks ago and have been playing in real-time ever since.

thank you all for the answers, i decided that i want my progress to be genuie, so i went with the current date :)
