i've been getting a little bored with my town lately. i do love it, it's beautiful, i've saved up millions, have a great wardrobe, have a set of villagers that i adore. i wanna reset for the fun of playing the game slower this time around, but i just feel so attached to my paradise island. i'm torn between my boredom with the game and my love for my island. have you had the same dilemma? what did you choose to do and why?

Do you think you can start over without feeling burnt out? because i did restart and now i stopped playing altogether lol. It is just a thing to keep in mind and of course we can be totally different in that regard. I am starting to miss the game but it took me some while. If you are mainly wanting to restart because of boredom then maybe you can try taking a little break and see if that helps making things feel more "fresh" when you come back?

tbh i think it's down to what you prefer
personally i like starting again on my games, i reset my island because i was bored of mine and didn't really like what i had made, i had a 5star island but it didn't feel like it
now i'm so glad i started again because my island is looking so jazzy imo
i am kinda bummed i lost my friendship levels with villagers and things i dontated but i can get those again

however both my friends think it was weird of me to just throw everything away like i did and they were saying they could never reset if they had my island
but i'm happy i reset so i guess it's just based on how you like to play

Personally, I could never reset any AC game. I am very attached to my island and villagers. For me the whole point of AC is to slowly cultivate this one place and put everything you have into it.

I feel like if I reset, I'd end up designing my island the same way it was.

I haven't reset, but I considered it very briefly to change my island name and map.
I love my island and villagers, but I feel like if I ended up resetting it would be like when I reset my new leaf towns.
I ended up resetting my town all the time when I got bored.

What if you leave items you care about as well as your millions over at someone else’s island, reset, have some fun for a while (With a new layout, I guess?) and then, once you feel like you’re back in the groove, you can just ask for your Bells and items back from the friend you left your stuff with?

Assuming you have friends you can trust with your stuff, that is...

I restarted my NL town once before, and was perfectly happy to do so. I don't think I'll ever be restarting my NH island, however - too much about it is exactly the way I would want it to be, so gambling on a new layout sounds unappealing. The only thing I would get out of that would be to villager hunt again, or maybe get a different native fruit than Orange if Perfect Fruit is ever re-implemented. That's not enough reason to throw everything away.

I think it depends a lot on your playing style! Since I'm not a super great decorator, and have a list of ideal villagers, if I was to reset, my island would probably look pretty similar.
But if it will prevent you from being burnt out further it may be worth it!

ive been thinking about ur question since uve posted it and tbh there's no set answer for u (from me).

to be honest in every game ive played ive been a serial resetter, so im all for resetting, but i have to take a look at it from ur perspective but i dont know what ur perspective is!!! u feel attached to ur island yet bored of it, but what exactly are u bored of? are u bored of having all these items? r u bored of the monotony? r u bored of how u decorated ur island? r u bored of getting all the things u wanted so quickly/easily?

if ur just bored how u decorated ur island, then u could easily redecorate and reterraform it. u could completely obliterate everything and just do it all in one fell swoop or u could take ur time and do it piece by piece, but either way id highly recommend moving literally all ur movable buildings to the beach or as close to it as u can. redecorating would help with monotony as well, because if ur just logging on to say hi to ur villagers atm now u can log on to say hi and also remove all their yards.

if u cannot stand that u have an orange indicating ur native fruit on ur passport, or u just despise the green airport then i think that an island reset would be the only thing to soothe ur irritations. in fact, the first time i reset is because i had a yellow airport and my resident services was too close to my airport. the second time is bc the island name sucked and i had taken a 2 month break from it so i had no idea what my plans were anymore. but these annoyances cannot be fixed so easily save for the blissful touch of a delete all game save data.

if ur bored maybe u could try to collect literally everything in the game. every color variation of an item, every fossil, art piece, etc. heck, even every villager. even tho we dont have the new leaf tree, u can still keep track of which villagers u get thru the pictures/posters, but ig if u just scan in any amiibo cards u have u dont technically have to get the villager, unless villager pictures appear in the catalog but are unorderable. in which case yes, collect every villager. complete ur catalog, u dont have to reset ur island for it!! u could even challenge urself to not buy out the whole store every day to make completing ur catalog completion take longer.

i definitely hear the sentiments of my fellow acnh players whomst have said that resetting once may plunge u down into the hole of resetting, and theyre telling the truth!! ive literally reset twice now, but since im more stress-free and have seen all the possibilities that creativity can have (which wasnt rly there @ the launch of the game) im much more confident in this island. but im still not immune to temptation now, even if i have my apples and orange airport.

so if ur willing to learn for ur "mistakes" &/or have wants that cannot be achieved in ur current game then id say tip the scale a bit more in favor of resetting and then start ruminating on ur choices again. good luck my friend.

edit: @Baroque brought up a good point about having ur friends keep ur bells and stuff, but if ur problem is that u have everything u want and thats boring then i wouldnt do that and would just start from the ground up.

Just my input here but I restarted my game and I love it a lot more than my old island. For one, I HATED my layout and I wanted to have my town hall centered - but that was just my preference. I know a lot of people care about different things such as the island fruit or the color of their dodo center. It can be very refreshing to restart and just build now that you know and have experienced the game. I also had the help of my friends to keep all my bells, items, and things I wanted for my new island. But if you want to start absolutely fresh and with nothing, it'll be fun too! Because you have to work for it and wait for everything (unless you TT). The second reason why I restarted was because I was feeling so burnt out from the game even after it being only a month released. I felt like it was just annoying to play and there was no reason to play at all. And the third, I wanted new villagers and a fresh start. The game does get exhausting and I didn't want to TT everybody to get out, so I just wanted to start from scratch with the villagers and work from there.

maybe just terraform in new ways and change up your island instead of resetting, there's so much u can do with terraforming that it can be like an entirely new island

I found the beginning of the game to be more boring than now... having to wait a month for Nooks and having to redo everything just seems like too much.

Maybe take a break, or if you want to do something different, maybe go with a fun theme and change your island by terraforming or custom paths or whatever. At this point you probably have the resources to do what you want. Seems better than starting from scratch? But do what makes you happy. Sometimes a fresh start is good.

If i were you I wouldn't reset. Speaking from experience, I restarted my new leaf town and afterwards I deeply regretted it because I realized I lost so much progress and memories on that town. This catalyst led me to stop playing altogether, but if you truly feel taht resetting is the answer, then go for it.

i reset my island after about 3 weeks of playing since i was DESPERATE for cosmos to be my native flower - black cosmos are my favourite flowers in the game, and having them be so difficult to grow on my initial windflower island was so painful that i bit the bullet, dropped all my important items off on my partner's beach, and started fresh with a native cosmos island. if you think there's nothing else you can do to improve your island without totally wiping it then go for it

also worth mentioning that if you're social with your friends/best friends at all their friend lists will be glitched and have your deleted character still display in their friend list - they'll still be able to message your "dead" character and post mail to them (mail which will go nowhere). so if it sounds like too much of a hassle to tell all your friends "hey please remove my old character from your best friend list" then i'd really reconsider resetting and try to just work with what you have

I wouldn't reset personally since it would be so much effort to rebuild, but I'd be open to having a second island (if you can get another switch that is!)

If you're not resetting to get better Town Hall placement or river outlets, or other map elements, I wouldn't do it. Maybe just tear the town down and build it back up.

I could never reset. I just see it as too much of a loss especially since, as in your case, you do actually love everything about your Island.
What I'd do is take a bit of a break... maybe play some other games for some time.
For the upcoming updates/events, you could make it a goal to obtain everything slowly without trading with others or no TT'ing (don't know if you've been trading or doing the latter but I see a lot of people who engage in many trades early on end up collecting everything they could have wished for pretty early on).

if you're feeling attached to your island I wouldn't reset. you've also collected so many items, bells, etc. it would be a shame
I myself would never reset, but then again I almost never reset games

if you're bored with your island you should just change it up! make new areas, new hills, bridges, rivers, waterfalls, ...
I feel like resetting is unnecessary, because you can always change your islands layout through terraforming and furniture ^^
