Whoops. Here I am again, at a crossroads, guys. I'm sorry. D:

This time, I've rolled a town with both Merengue, who I've NEVER seen in all of my hundreds of resets before, and Ankha. This is my third town, and is generally supposed to be not only a cycling town, but also one to get the rest of my dreamies with. The map, however, I'm unsure with. Here's what it looks like (sorry, phone pic):

I had wanted to start with Rosie, maybe Olivia and Pekoe, so there's not only that problem, but... This layout. I'm not sure if I'm thrilled by it. I sort of like Re-Tail to be up right near the tracks; though it's not that way in my main town, that's how I mostly prefer it. But, what do you guys think?

Should I keep this town and cycle it to get my dreamies, or toss it?

I have the similar layout and I go with it =D first of all is easier to because not so much turning around the town and everything just go straight and convinient =D also my retail is just next to my train station xD but is up to you because some people love to have town tree in the middle~ My town plaza is at the very side upper right~

This looks like my cycling town! I would prefer if the plaza was above the river, but I still think it's a good layout ^~^

And if this is just a cycling town I think this layout is fine =) because if you plan to let others adopt some villagers is easier to walk around also lay path for them to reach the house~

I think you should toss it uvu. If I were you, I would've done it, because I don't see merengue nor Ankha as your dreamies, anddd I resetted my other town because I didn't like the layout. Yes, live it to your best liking! Seize the day, but instead of day, replace it with your satisfaction of your new town \(0u0)/

Hmm, thank you for your opinions! I never particularly mind where the plaza is (if that's weird?); I usually look for where Re-Tail is, since I like it to be as close as possible. I just wasn't sure if it was like, "good" enough to become an eventual settled town, I suppose? I've seen SO many good maps, and they've all been crowded with terrible villagers. )': I also have to wonder if my house is in a nasty spot due to those two ponds x.x;

if it is a cycle town then the layout shouldn't matter seeing as it is just a cycle town, not your real town. :)

Thing is, it's going to end up into a real town. D: I want to be able to settle it after I do some cycling.

That is true; I sort of wanted to give Merengue and Ankha away though, seeing as they're so popular; I think I might feel bad if I just nuked it. Ahh. D: But I suppose I should be pickier about my maps as WELL as my villagers. This is going to take thousands of resets I can feel it in my bones.

But really, thank you guys ;v; You're all super fantastic!

Tbh I don't like it. There's 3 ponds... and 1 is kinda close to retail.. and it looks like it's a bit of a walk from the train station to retail

I'd change it too.. I like having the plaza in the centre, and the townhall not too far off with the retail near the main street. I was lucky and got that first time, but that may take a lot of resetting.

My main actually has 3 ponds, and Re-Tail is waaay below, but since it was my first town I got very used to it, and it's pretty much perfect otherwise. XD Funny how I'm so picky now when I'm simply so used to how my main town is.

Yeah, I feel you; I actually didn't know people liked the plaza in the center! I had no idea, I'd been avoiding that! XDD But yeah Re-Tail is a problem. I wish they just... Gave us more than 4 maps to choose from? I dunno. But seriously, thank you guys. :D Now I just have to decide if I can stomach cycling Merengue and Ankha out or if I just have to swallow my pride and nuke it.

I actually like that layout. ( jealous jealous xD )

Haha omg I'm sorry~! I've found quite a few nice maps so far, but terrible villagers. :c This is going to cost me an arm and a leg of time, I swear it. Oh well... I'll start my third town for real eventually :')

If you don't like the layout, don't choose the map. Villagers come and go, but you're stuck with the layout.

Town layout is such a critical part of the game. In my opinion don't settle until you find the layout that you're in love with. That's if you have the willpower to sit there and keep resetting though. Otherwise i'd say either take a break from it and come back later or just take the one that has more pros then cons that you're happy with and can live with.

It all depends on what's important to YOU. You've gotta analyze that. I love having Re-Tail closer to the dock for beetle excursions. My main town has the dock at bottom and Retail up as far north as it's possible to be, just to the right of the entrance to Main Street. I hate schlepping beetles back and forth, and I don't do enough running between Main Street/train station and Re-Tail for that distance to be important. I would've been OK with the layout you showed us (though fewer lakes would be nice). But it's also hard to figure out exactly what you'll be doing in a cycling town... imo, it's not something you'd build up a lot because it will be full of transients slopping their houses down wherever they want, yet you want certain things like well-placed bridges, decent shopping, a campground, etc.

I settled for a cycling town full of lame villagers after spending at least 8 hours total resetting -- I just got tired and nobody I wanted was showing up at all. Seems weird because I didn't know about any of this with my first town, had no clue re. the differences in the maps, and my initial set of villagers wasn't bad... Ankha was there, for instance. This time, the SAME boring villagers were showing up over and over in resets, while others were nowhere to be found. Really, really disappointing.
