So I'm trying to get some of the last rare fish and bugs that are available for this month of the season on new leaf and I'm wondering if anyone has tips? For example, I'm looking for a saddled birchir that has the same size shadow as a black bass and several other medium sized fish, during the hunt for it I've caught several black pass and other fish and the 2 or 3 rare arowanas. I've tried some save & continue to get the elusive coelacanth, but nothing seems to bring out the saddled birchir.

Patience. :( Some fish can be extremely annoying to catch. I remember struggling with the birchir, I think I remember it looked really big in the river. If it helps, it will appear from june to september, in the river, from 9pm to 4am.
Also I don't know if you know this already but the coelacanth will only appear in the ocean, at night, from 4pm to 9am (all year) and only if it's raining or snowing.

The Saddled Bichir took me forever to catch. It really and truly just takes a lot of patience. I found mine in the narrow part of the river just off the bend where my "river bulge" is. Same with the Snakehead, which I also had a lot of trouble with.

I just caught everything that was the same size as the black bass or bigger. Sometimes they like to hide on the river bank where your standing. The stringfish does the same thing. I just kept fishing and pass the hour mark where it tells you been playing too long. It usually gives one up after I've caught about 15 plus black bass.

Someone posted that walking the full length of the river and back helps to spawn fish. Also someone said that more rare fish shows up when it's raining. Found that both worked for me. Also going in and out of the buildings helped spawn new fish.

I'm working on Player 26 and 27 fishing collection. Just need to get some winter fish to complete it. Found the boy players caught fish faster.

Thanks for the tips, it's definitely difficult and tests my patience trying to catch what I'm looking for. With the coelacanth it took me about several save & continues going up and down the beach while it was raining the other day to get not only one, but four to spawn within a short time of each other.

one trick that worked for my catching coelacanth was just patroling the beach and using the save and continue option if I didnt see it. Got one within 15 minutes!

Most of the rare fish are usually either by the waterfall or most commonly by that massive circle bit of river. Sadly fish are a lot harder to catch than bugs x patience is key!
