Tips on streetpassing yourself with a 2nd ds?

Hi there, I've never been able to streetpass myself if using my bro's ds with one of my other towns in it, and I really like the street pass items.
How is this accomplished?

I'm bumping my dead thread, since it's my thread, making multiple threads on the same thing is wasteful and I think this still to be helpful/relevant info.

I've streetpassed myself, I didn't mean to actually, I remembered this thread late last and flipped on streetpass for one of my towns and when I got up, I had street passed, yay!

Actually, I think I streepassed a couple of days ago, since I've changed my hair and my Cascades mayor had the old hair when I saw her in the HHA plaza, but I still managed to street pass myself, which I'm happy about.

Things I noticed:
I can't order most of my furniture, most of my stuff is WA or Harvey and therefor unorderable, but the normal stuff I have can't be ordered either since I've had them redone with Cyrus, not with town patterns, just redone, which I thought was odd and disappointing.

I could order, however, a balloon I had displayed in my bedroom could be ordered, so I guess if you already have streetpass stuff displayed in one of your homes, you can order more (up to 5), which is great.

So now I'm going to root out all my streetpass stuff in my storage/display (museum 2nd floor) and start accumulating them for giveaways and stuff.

True, I say believe because as you know, I can't check at the moment.

I have two 3Ds, and they will only street pass each other as long as they're both closed and on the main menu. They never street pass each other while open or while one or both are playing a game. Which is weird since I've streetpassed other people under those conditions, but whatever lol. But I would try that and see if it works. It might take a minute or two, but as long as you've both got streetpass enabled it should eventually work.

Just be sure you have ten villagers at all times when your streetpass is set up and activated and WiFi is on so you don’t pick up any voids. And get ready to be inundated with balloons, ice cream, tweeters, pin wheels, bubble wands and... is that all? It’s a lot of stuff two or three times a day depending how much you play and especially if you’re going after a badge.

I can't understand why so many people have a problem with that.

I’m thinking it’s because we only get ten villagers and we all have our particular favorites and have to deal with our own unwanted ones already. Wish I’d known and visited you earlier so I wouldn’t have to see Monty or Tex wandering around my Main Streets... You could also have had Canberra, Tabby or even Rudy.

You can streetpass every 8 hours? Dumb me thought it was 24 hours.

I think you don’t get an item the first time but then it’s every eight hours and there’s a list somewhere that explains exactly which items before they start shifting...

Not me, the other mayor that you’ve streetpassed. Have you not gotten something yet? Both mayors should be able to greet the other one by now and get something.

Hi, thanks for all the help. Mayor #1 just visited Mayor #2 in the Showcase. Mayor #2 was not holding anything, but they talked to one another. According to Animal Crossing Wiki, that's right: "The owners of each house will be seen walking around the outside the house, and will hold an item which correlates to the number of times that house and the Nintendo 3DS it belongs to has been StreetPassed. The first time a house has been added to the Showcase, the player that relates to that building will not be holding an item. However, from the second time onwards the player will be found holding an item."

So now I should watch for the green light and go see if Mayor #2 has an item, right?

I street pass well enough between my games as each game is in its own ds unit (they will streetpass even if one/both units are open, but I normally try for having units next to one another in sleep mode).

For Ably.Saucey: yes you do have to have both games set for street pass - you can check with Digby. But your 3ds units also have to be set for street pass, so check for that on both yours & your brothers 3ds when you can.

My little niggle is, is there a connection between the unit and the game that is in that unit - your 2nd game is normally in your ds not your brothers. I think you should be OK, but I'm not sure. You will find out for sure when you try streetpassing.

Make sure to check on both 3DS systems that StreetPass is on for ACNL. To do this, go to: 3DS System Settings > Data Management > StreetPass Management. You can only have up to 12 titles using StreetPass, so if ACNL's not one of them, deactivate StreetPass for one of the games currently using it, then activate it in ACNL by going to Digby.

Also, have you gotten StreetPass hits on both systems in the first place? If your brother's much younger and has parental controls enabled, communication might be disabled.

So now I should watch for the green light and go see if Mayor #2 has an item, right?

You might not see the green light - if you get a StreetPass hit while your 3DS is closed and then open it up, the green light will switch off. You can check to see if you have any hits in the 3DS Notifications, or else just go directly to the showcase.

But yes, once you get your next hit with player #2 (I don't think it has to be the mayor, you can set a different player, if I remember correctly), then they should be holding an item.

Also, if you're just interested in the items, if someone in the showcase is displaying one in their house, you can order it from there. Otherwise, they're unorderable.

haha i've done some research on this a while back and i streetpass me and my sister's ds for HHA homes

you can streetpass every 8 hours. make sure you check all streetpass notifications on both 3ds, and then close the lid on both. should streetpass after a minute or so.

if you aren't streetpassing in acnl:

-check that it's enabled in the game

if it is in both games, try this (fixed the problem for me):

-system settings > data management > streetpass (forgot the name)

-if acnl is the first thing listed for streetpass-enabled games there, that's the problem. if not then this isn't the solution, you can stop reading now.

-if it is, deactivate streetpass for a software you don't mind deactivating streetpass in (tap one of them in the list).

-open that software you deactivated streetpass in and activate streetpass again. it should be at the top of the streetpass list now.

problem should be solved, streetpass to see if it's fixed.
