Tips on getting more bells/becoming involved with trades and such?

Hey, TBT. Not sure if this board is the right one to post this in, but my birthday is coming up in four days and I have a problem. I really, really want Ankha or Diana for my birthday this year, however I'm totally broke compared to mostly everybody on this forum. I have around 8 million bells saved in my bank account which is child's play compared to what most of you have. 50 million? 100 million? Easy to win auctions, but I'm the bottom of the barrel here.
Yes, I indeed know about the island and the Lazy villager trick. Cloning cash usually fails for me and my friend isn't on 24/7, but mostly everybody here gets the loot from exchange of hybrids, turnips and villagers.
I have no luck at all to be honest. I've tried breeding hybrids but they never spawn, only the normal red, yellow and white flowers spawn, I can't do turnips because I time travel when bug hunting because I get too tired at around 11, and I have no villagers that would sell for a lot that I'm willing to let go of.
Not only this, but even online I'm anxious with social interaction with those who I'm not familiar with. I always think I'll leave a bad impression, get a negative Wi-Fi rating (even though I would never break anybody's rules), be hated by the community or mess something up. I always tend to think the worst and I know it's a bad habit but how do you think I'm able to get started doing these things like normal users?
I just want one of these two villagers for my birthday, but every one of them I cannot afford, either it be an auction or selling. I just cannot afford it.
If it's possible, please help me and give me tips as to how I can get involved with the community here, and thanks for reading up to this point.

Heya! I'm very new here, and I currently have less bells than you, buttttt:

-☆- Sell art. Art commissions, art auctions, what have you. Art seems to sell for a LOT and it looks like you draw really well, so try it out!

-☆- Sell your TBT for bells. I saw someone offering 2.7 mil for each 100 TBT, so there you go.

-☆- For better hybrid breeding setups, try the layout shown near the bottom of this guide. And for a higher chance of hybrids, use the Beautiful Town ordinance. I get about a hybrid a day without that setup, but just with the ordinance on and making sure to have the right parent flowers next to each other. For a guide on parent flowers, check out this page.

-☆- Don't be anxious about wifi interactions! Most trades I do consist of "hi " "hi!" "over here" *drops items* *drops bells* *picks stuff up* "thanks!! " "thank you so much!" *press start, end online session*. Everyone here is super, SUPER nice and friendly and nobody is gonna be paranoid about you stealing their stuff. I'd be happy to visit you or let you visit me if you'd like some feedback to start out!

-☆- Sell random crap if you want. Fossils, gyroids, orderables, whatever, everything sells for quite a profit and people are willing to pay more than you'd expect. You could open a shop thread, if you like, and take offers. Or just browse people's buying threads and see if you have anything they're looking for.

-☆- Do whatever you want! These are just some ideas but there are tons of ways to make bells. I hope you can get your dreamies soon! <3

just check the TBT marketplace

the actual conversion value fluctuates but there's generally always at least a small handful of people buying TBT bells anytime I check it

I feel your pain as well! I'm pretty new here and I only have 1 million bells. I tried my best to get involved and then I eventually got enough TBT to buy my dream furniture sets (sloppy and 7 Eleven).

I also get super anxious when I do trades, but they're usually very simple. All you do is exchange some pleasantries ("Hi!" Thank you!" "Bye!") and the items, and that's it! If you do make a mistake, any decent person will give you the chance to fix it, so it won't be the end of the world if it does happen. Remember that the person at the other end of the screen is not sitting there judging you; they're just looking to find their dreamies or sought-after items too. You seem like a lovely person who would fit right in with the community!

If you want some general rules on town etiquette/how trading works, let me know! Walking you through the process may help you feel less anxious. You can get started by doing some small trades, or even just visiting someone else's town for fun. Lots of people in the Train Station want to just drop off Katie or want help with the Train Station, and those are all relatively non-stressful interactions you can try first. It does get easier and less scary the more you do it.

For hybrids, I'd recommend checking out this guide. I also used this guide here which lets you know which flowers breed what hybrid. That should get you started!

Looks like you already got advice on using the TBT Marketplace. Here's info on how to send the TBT, and here's the exchange rate (currently it's around 2.5 to 3 million Bells for 100 TBT). There isn't one specific thread for this exchange, but if you just look in the marketplace, you'll find a handful of people. I don't want to look like I'm promoting one person over the other, so you should just pick someone yourself, haha.

Don't be nervous about trades I'm yet to meet anyone who has been mean. The only rule I have is if someone seems sketchy, don't trade with them. It's your stuff and you always have the right to say no to them

I don't find that everyone here has millions on millions (some do, but you know). I average about 3-10mil in the bank. You have a lot of TBT so you actually have about 22M including your TBT. Some people will accept TBT straight or you could cash in on the TBT marketplace. Try and find someone buying high for the best profit.

If you're looking for dreamies here's my number one tip. Unless the auction is very slow don't try and bid your way into a dreamie, there's always someone who has more bells to burn. Find someone with a reasonable buyout or is looking to unload shortly.

and finally - just talk to us I've found everyone here is a friendly crowd. No one has been outright mean. Questions will always be answered and noone gets mad at you for not necessarily understanding everything. If you ever want to visit, PM me and you can come visit my town

I definitely second whoever said to sell your art, you have a great style that is very original ~ you'd make a killing!

You'll find that making bells becomes a lot easier once you start accumulating bells, and that's by what everyone else has mentioned: selling any random items you don't want that will garner a nice profit & helping other villagers get items that you might have! And as everyone has said, you'll do fine with online trading. It's very simple and a lot of Dr. Shrunk smiles & thank you's, best of luck! You'll do fine!

Check Retails forum board. People post their wish list items and if you have any of their wish list items, let them know C: just offer them a reasonable price, decide on whose town to do the trade, say hello and drop the item/pick up bells and say thank you, wait til they (or you) end the session.. Pretty simple :3

Also when you have high turnip prices or non-native fruits on premium, post on Train Station forum. Be clear about your rules in your town. Most of people will leave tips even when you don't mention about it.

Oh my gosh thank you I followed you back. Oh yes, my Marshal drawing haha... I did it with a wireless mouse because I was up in Tampa for two weeks staying at the hospital because my father just had a huge surgery and I was without my tablet so I just had to deal. Now I'm back with my precious tablet and willing to take commissions!

I did it with a wireless mouse because I was up in Tampa for two weeks staying at the hospital because my father just had a huge surgery and I was without my tablet so I just had to deal.
