So long story short, 3DS was stolen and my digital New leaf save data is now gone after some 80-90 hours of playtime. I've acquired a new 3DS and had Nintendo transfer my content over it. After looking into it, it looks like thanks to Nintendo's paranoid saving scheme I cannot carry over the New leaf save data I have on my desktop, so i have to start over fresh.

Any tips for building my bell count back up most efficiently? Not sure I can go through the fishing and tree farming all over again.

That sucks. Like, really sucks. Really sorry that your 3DS had been stolen. Unfortunately the only thing you can do is play the game as you did before when you first started off.

I can give you 25 TBT, which is the currency of this forum, and you can go to the TBT Marketplace and swap it for in-game Bells. 25 TBT should get you about 4 million bells?

That's what I'd suggest to, is saving up tbt and trading it for in-game bells! I'd offer you some, too, but I have a possible pending order that might wipe me of all my tbt at the moment x_x

Luckily they're pretty easy to earn, though c:

As you build your catalog back up, too, you could sell items for IGB on the Retail thread (or for tbt on the TBT marketplace).

And, if you have villagers moving out that you don't want to keep, you can earn quite a bit of igb from the forums depending on the tier they're in.

Good luck!

Lol, I already sent him 25 TBT! it should be enough to start him off easily. <3

Thanks for the generosity! Though, I am new to the forum so I'd prefer not to inconvenience anyone with my problem, particularly if TBT is hard to earn here. I guess I very well may break out the fishing rod again, but first I need to look around here and see if someone can reunite me with Bluebear, lol.

Ack! The same thing happened to me! I'm only just getting mine replaced now after five months!

But I would suggest doing a little bit of island bug catching and using what you earn there to buy turnips! That's how I got mine up. :)
Granted I'm only at 5mil now, but that's enough to cover my house costs and pay off a couple of PWPs!

Naw, TBT isn't too hard to come by. Just be active and make constructive posts and threads. I generally get about 100 TBT a day. and don't worry, you're not inconveniencing anyone! I actually lost about two-ish weeks of progress recently myself, so I know how it feels. It wasn't a lot, but I had worked hard in those two-ish weeks.

I already sent you 25 TBT, so go see if anyone is willing to trade you some Bells for them at the TBT Marketplace subsection of the forum.

Ok phew, when you said 4 million bells I worried a little. The mass majority of my playtime in New Leaf was offline and solo, so earning bells wasn't the easiest thing. Thanks for the donation :)

Lol, no problem. 100 TBT goes for about 10 million to 15 million Bells at the moment. The 4 million for 25 TBT was just an estimate. :)

You could also save the TBT and save it for a villager at the Villager Trading Plaza subsection of the forum and get a villager you really want, like Stitches, perhaps.

Use bug hunting to get 1m or so and then after that sell turnips with a network of other people (ACNL Online). It's a fast way to get bells. Sorry to hear that your 3DS and the game got stolen.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Losing the 3DS did suck, mainly because of all the save data. I luckily had insurance in place though so at least the market value of the system and games were covered.

Currently trying to cycle a new town that looks like my old one. Hah. I might be doing this a while.

I spent six hours cycling for a town that looked like my old lost town. I eventually gave up and picked the best one I could find. ><;;

Yea ok, I cycled enough to realize more or less how the generator works and gave up too. lol. RNG is never my friend. On the plus side, the river doesn't wind around like it did before so I have larger plots of land to work with.
