It's the LAST bug I need!
I know it's at night in the summer/on island on fruit trees, and I have a bunch of durian trees set up on the island. Everything else is ripped out, but I just have NOT encountered it. Any tips?

It is only found on the small patch of land in the middle of the island.

And there is no confusing it with the fruit beetle or rainbow stag. You'll know when you find it because it will look just like a fruit beetle but with a golden color scheme.

Also, standard sneaking applies just like with those other valuable beetles. meaning I am sure it gets scared off easily

Scarab Beetles can be caught 1100pm to 8am.

For that bug I did a couple of loops around the island and than went into the building to reset the bugs.
During that time I caught some of the bugs. To make sure I didn't miss I dug a hole in front of the tree. The hole stops you from going to far.

Well, I guess I'm just real unlucky, then. Thanks anyway!

Oh, I hadn't thought about digging holes in front of trees, that's smart, thanks!

Sorry to interfere but I think that's a great idea for any of the beetles:D

The best time is very early in the morning. Around 5.00 am!

Good luck.

I got mine on the island as well since the spawn pool is smaller, making it far easier to catch there.
Just be patient as other have said! I think I got it in my first week of farming.

I caught mine in town when I was still in summer, with the clock at 3am or so. More fruit trees to loop around + easier to avoid my beach palms. It was hard to tell the scarab beetle from the fruit beetle in the dark, and I encountered a few I didn't realize were scarabs until they flew away. So I started treating every fruit beetle like a potential scarab beetle, and caught every one I saw. I think that was the key for me, because it made me way more cautious.
