So it's the 4th of July in America and I'm in Australia will my game still celebrate it or? And if not how do they know where I am?

Your game celebrates the holidays assigned to your copy. NA copies get NA holidays. There is no Fourth of July celebration.

I think it's based on where your game cartridge is from. Maybe also on what location you've set on your 3DS (like the Vivillon in Pok?mon). I haven't heard of a 4th July event in the game but I find it hard to imagine that your game would celebrate it, since Australia and the US have different game cartridges, so you'd probably have to have an american copy of the game. If that celebration exists and you just have an Australian copy, you could always try to change your 3DS location to USA and see if it works but I don't think it would.
