Time Travelling While Island Hopping

Sorry if this has been asked before or if it sounds dumb.

If you have an empty plot on a specific day and then go island hopping for villagers but find nothing of your liking, are you able to go back to, lets say 6:00 am of that same day and that plot will still be available?

I believe whatever day you are island hopping on you need to make sure it doesn’t change to the next day.

Otherwise you might have a random move in to the plot and tting back won’t get rid of them at that point I think.

so yeah tting back to 6am would allow you to keep looking for villagers on islands.
