Has anyone time travelled purely so moving buildings and town planning is quicker? Are there any downfalls? Does it mess things up?
i don’t time travel, and I havent done in any of the animal crossing games but since we have this new feature of moving things around, I want to take advantage but also don’t want to wait days and days.
i never time travelled on new horizons until i had to move all my villager houses and it took me maybe an hour or so, it doesn't really mess your game up but you will get loads of flowers lol
☆ it is so much quicker ☆
Yes, the only downside I have encountered was my fault and shouldn't be easily encountered, I just kinda wanted to see what would happen - because I TT a lot, I noticed that if I buy a moving kit on one day, keep it in my inventory until the next day and talk to Tom again, he will let me buy another moving kit (in my case, I had a kit for a villager's home in my bag, and then I talked to Nook about moving the shop, and he let me have that too). So I had both kits in my inventory, but it seemed that since you can only move one building a day, even though I used both kits that day, only the shop got moved and it was like I never bought the moving kit for my villager's home. So I wasted 50k testing that out, haha.
Aside from that, there are no issues with TTing to move stuff around.
Just travel day by day, the worst thing that'll happen is you might get some weeds lol, but when I was moving houses and buildings time travelling made everything sooo much easier!! Its way quicker than waiting a day to move them lol
Complete list of downsides to time-traveling in New Horizons:
- weeds (note, weeds do not overfill your town like in previous games, there appears to be a cap on how many can grow between sessions)
- flowers overfilling your town, effectively becoming like weeds that are harder to move
- turnips rot if you past Sunday or go backwards
- your Nook Miles achievements can have out of order dates on them if you go backwards
- glitch involving housing exteriors when a villager is forced out via amiibo and you time-travel backwards during the move-out/in process
- people on the internet who have nothing better to do than criticize time-traveling are big doo doo heads
