Hello there :lemon:

I restarted my town not too long ago and I have been creating characters and moving them around to influence villager's house placement. Now that my town is full, I have ugly brown patches where I've built houses in the past.

So I would like to TT to restore my grass, but I would like to do so at the best moment to unlock the fewest shops possible.

Here's the information I have (please correct me if I'm wrong) :)

Time traveling
- Backward counts as one day
- Forward counts each day you pass, even if you don't play (?)

Shops unlock
- T&T Mart will be unlocked when I go back to the present since I've met other requirements, I'm okay with this since it would have opened in a few days anyway
- Super T&T will not unlock sooner, since I have to wait 10 days after T&T opening (?)
- Club LOL will not be open, but Shrunk will be at my door begging for signatures
- Kicks will be open, since it's being built today
- Shampoodle might be open (?)

Villager movement
- Peaches is supposed to move on the 9th, will time traveling change anything?

Can anyone help me out with this and let me know if what I've said is true or if I've missed anything? I would really appreciate it!

You are correct about backwards time-travelling "counting" as one day no matter how many days backwards you travel. You are also correct that each day travelled forward "counts" even if you don't play.

If you are only time-travelling forward, then Peaches will still be moving on the 9th. (I dont think they can change their minds unless you talk to them first). If you travel backwards at all, that trip will "count" towards when Peaches will move out. in other words, if you time travelled back one day, then forward one day, 2 days will have elapsed from the countdown to Peaches move-out, so the date could change and arrive sooner. (interesting question tho, if you time travel backwards five days I dont know if that still counts only as one day for calculating her moveout or not, that's a situation i haven't encountered).

sorry, i cant speak to what impact this will have on your shops opening.

are you only time travelling forward, or were you going backwards and forwards??

Thank you very much for your answer :)

I'm planning to travel three weeks backward then three weeks forward, so I'm still in the present when it's done. I will test on my other cartridge and see how it goes, I feel weird trying to "avoid" only certain effects of time traveling but I really messed up the looks of my town by placing those houses everywhere.

well then even if the 3 weeks back counts as 1 day towards Peaches' moving time, she would definitely be moved out during your 3 weeks jump back forward. (cause even when they give you specific move-out date, its actually based on a certain number of days, usually 4 or 5...)

I am currently testing with my test cartridge (I won't do it on my main unless I'm sure the results are okay).

Here are my observations if it can help someone:

May 5th before TTing
- Kicks already under construction
- Nooklings announcing construction tomorrow (on the 6th)
- Cheri announcing move out in five days (on the 10th)
- Nothing from Shampoodle or Club LOL

TTing to April 5th
- Kicks still under construction
- Nooklings also under construction
- Cheri still there, wandering around
- Nothing from Shampoodle or Club LOL
- Isabelle found sleeping at her desk (I presume this would have happened tomorrow)

TTing back to May 5th
- T&T Mart and Kicks opened
- Cheri gone (not in boxes)

TTing to May 7th
- Shrunk at my house demanding signatures

TTing to May 10th
- Alfonso announcing move out in five days (on the 15th)

TTing to May 15th
- Alfonso in boxes
- Shampoodle under construction

So from what I understand, the countdown for each shop doesn't start until you visit it at least once? Which means I'm safe to time travel and it will not affect my shops unlocking much :)

well that confirms that any jump backwards is 1 day alright, even as to calculating the number of days before a villager intends to move out...
