I haven't played NL in probably 2 years. I was wondering if I could set my 3ds clock back really far, way earlier than 2 years, and my town would look how it was back then without losing flowers or villagers. Would this be a safe option? All my save spots are full so I can't make a new character after I have changed my 3ds time and see the status of my town before loading up a save file.

So you haven't played since the update? After you update to welcome amiibo and load your town the first time, it's guaranteed no villagers will have left and no weeds/etc will occur. Only works the first time you play after updating though!

I haven't even updated the game. This is great news as I haven't even loaded the game either which means this method should work! Thank you!

Will this still work if I move my 3ds clock to the current day or do I need to know the date that I last played because I have no idea what that date is?

After downloading the update you can play on any date, with no problems
But after this one first time, if you stop playing for a while, it'd be safer to wither deny a ping to move before hiatusing so that no one will move or write down the date you stop in.

So I need to update the game before changing the clock for it to work? Sorry for asking so many questions! I want to do it right.
