I have an honest question for all the time travelers who have already enjoyed Halloween. Did time traveling an entire month to enjoy everything the update had to offer in less than two weeks bring you joy or tire you out?

For those of you who have already played Halloween, are you still excited to play the event on Ocrober 31st in real life too? Or are you over it?

When the November updates come out, are you going to do the same thing and enjoy everything Thanksgiving and Toy Day(assuming we get both) has to offer in a very short amount of time or are you considering taking the next update slower?

I would agree with the two posters above. I don't time travel as well, by the way.

I know that you're asking for a specified audience to address your concern. However, it doesn't make any sense really to time travel and play through the event early. You're going to miss the actual discussion from players who don't time travel and celebrating the spirit of Halloween. At some point, you will also need to control yourself on giving out spoilers to others. I don't see any merit other than gaining access to the furniture early.

Nintendo designed this game with an intent to follow real life celebrations. I am going to stick firmly to that for my own amusement.

my second island will be reaching halloween soon as have been tting to accomplish stuff i need done quick. Even though I will get to do halloween early I don't think it will take away my enjoyment of it when my main island reaches it. I've seen some videos of it and I gotta say I don't think I will be able to get enough of my villagers in cute costumes going around and hissing at each other, its so cute I might just keep tting back and spending a week or so on halloween day.

Okay I will admit that I did TT to Halloween because I really wanted all the Halloween DIYS. I’ve been working a lot lately but had a week off last week so I wanted all the recipes now so that I could spend time decorating my island for Halloween and making my pumpkin patch. I will replay halloween night when it comes and I think I’ll still enjoy talking to my villagers and everything

I'm an avid TT'r, but I don't TT to events.

They aren't worth it.

Also, there is nothing wrong with TT'g.
It's a part of AC, and topics low key having a go at those of us who do, have been done to death. :(

I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with time traveling. I have done it too and I can see the appeal. I was just curious if zooming through the month including Halloween made the event less exciting when it comes around in real time. Especially for people who played the whole month in a day.

It has just been something I have been thinking about for the past week.

There's hardly anything in the game is it is currently. So much of the content is lacking. I'd rather be patient and mess around with it as time comes. Because when you TT to get it all done in one sitting, it's not like you can than TT to November for the Franklin event and the such. TT was useful for people in the older games because they didn't have to wait around for everything. We're all essentially waiting around regardless if you TT or don't lol. You can TT to November, but Nintendo hasn't patched that update in yet.

I ended up burning myself out once TT in one of the older games. Can't remember which one. So I don't do it anymore. It's not fun to me. A little TT here or there can keep things interesting, but going gung-ho is just asking for massive burnout.

That is very true. At some point we are all just sitting around and waiting in this game. It makes me a bit thankful that I want so many pumpkins for decorating and that I don't horde my crafting materials. Right now, it feels like I always have something to do like I did in New Leaf. Sadly, I know that won't last forever unless they just add more to do in the game.

I agree with your sentiment fully! I have a lot of friends who left the game after abusing time travel.

It seems like the frequency of updates isn't that much extensive as compared to mobile games. I would say Nintendo is really quite generous to provide us once in every two months. (And all of them are free so far.) I know some players might not like the idea of releasing the game without all of these features being implemented. But their motive is to extend the game's lifespan. I decided to follow their ideals. Hence, I am still playing this game since launch.

In terms of time traveling, I would caution players here not to use it too much. (It really depends on how you can take the dissatisfaction that comes after clearing new content quickly.)

I only ever time travel during the dame day. That's how I've always played animal crossing. I have a few times though for stacks of items and such. It's not too bad, it just takes away from the game for me. I'd rather experience it day by day.

I TT sometimes when I'm landscaping but I don't do it for events because I enjoy playing those in real time, at least in this first year the games been out. That said, this has been the only event where I've been super tempted to TT to halloween just so I can get the new reacts and the chungus pumpkin. I want the reacts so bad it's painful. I'm definitely going to buy some of the Halloween-day items off someone here before Halloween but I'll wait to play the event in real time even though it hurts. I just want to haunt my villagers 🥺

I am of your same opinion. The game would be boring to me if I artificially completed any of the time-locked events. Granted, I usually acquire all the new-this-month items the first day the game intends for them to be available, but events like Halloween and Thanksgiving are meant to be enjoyed the day of.

I have nothing against time traveling to get through the events asap but I do think it’ll burn them out and make it boring for them? They’ll have to wait for the next update (probably November) and it might not be a meaty update.

I will say that I’m also tempted to TT to Halloween to get the rest of the recipes & reactions bc by the time we get them, Halloween will be over and I won’t really have any uses for the decorations :/ honestly seems a bit like a bad move from Nintendo

I have time traveled but not much. Usually it’s going back to the beginning of the day when Gulliver or Redd is here. Or the next day when moving out a villager and have limited amount of time to island hop. I don’t time travel to the holiday’s even though it is tempting.

I haven't TTed this month and don't intend too, I know that means waiting for the 30th will be an awesome surprise (I've thankfully avoided spoilers)!

I literally can't comprehend how that's fun for anyone tbh. I get the players who want to make a profit out of it, by selling DIYs to people who don't want to time travel...but the players who aren't making a profit...don't get it.
...The Halloween event is gonna be fun. Period. Why does it matter when you experience it? I haven't done it yet, but like any events, I plan to TT to it soon enough (I've been playing other games though, too, and haven't TTed as much as usual). I'll play through it, then probably TT back, then experience it again. That's what I did with Egg Day and I had a blast. It allows me to fully experience the event on my own time (What if I want to do something else on Halloween? What if, God forbid, I had IRL plans that didn't allow me time for ACNH?)

This threads kind of bumming me out, honestly. If you don't wanna TT, don't, but some people (like me) enjoy it and consider it a fundamental part of the game. There's nothing wrong with that.

I don't mind an honest discussion about it. I was honestly wondering if experiencing everything really fast makes the game a little boring once you finally finish decorating and experience the event. For you, it sounds like it doesn't and it makes it even more fun throughout the entire season. Awesome!

I agree, there isn't anything wrong with it. But, I do find it hypocritical for people to complain about an honest question when people who don't time travel have to wade through posts that might spoil surprises. Like the special DIYs that you only get on Halloween night that were not hinted at or shown in the official teaser trailer. If I'm being completely honest, I was delighted to see the pumpkin carriage until I realized that it was a special DIY for Halloween that you got on Halloween. While I'm still looking forward to it, it took the shine off of the surprise.

I'm sorry if you feel bummed out for reading the thread. It was not my intention to make anybody feel bad about time traveling. It is just a different mindset and a different way to play. It took me years to finally experience Festival in New Leaf just because I kept forgetting about it and I didn't want to time travel. I could have easily gone back and experienced it. I just chose not to because I like the wait for the holidays. It makes them feel more fun for me and I understand if people feel differently about it. That's the joy of playing a single-player game. We can all play how we like to play.

Okay, to be clear, I'm NOT complaining about an honest question. I was just bummed to see that some responses here feel like they're judging or making assumptions about people who do TT (not all, but some). That's what bugged me. One of the reasons it took me so long to get into online communities for AC is because I didn't want to be judged for it, because I've heard horror stories of players being attacked for it, and it makes me sad when I see a bunch of people who just seem to be bashing the concept. Just like if I was going on and on about how pointless it is NOT to TT, and asking how anyone could enjoy the game that way, you might get a little annoyed with me. I came to this thread expecting a discussion but I was just surprised to see how one-sided it felt.

And it's not fair to blame all TTers for spoilers. The only time I post anything akin to spoilers is on threads like the one where the update was just released and people were posting their discoveries about it- that's literally going to be a thread of spoilers, and if you don't want things spoiled, don't go on it. Or in response to direct questions- if someone asks "when can I get this DIY?", if I know, I'll tell them. But I'm not going around posting spoilers just for the heck of it. I'm guessing the vast majority of TTers aren't. Heck, I've seen non-TTers post spoilers, too. Sure, they got them from TTers... but they're still spreading them.

Unfortunately, the only way to completely, 100% ensure you don't encounter spoilers is to not discuss the game with other people. But when you do encounter spoilers, it's not the fault of every TTers. It's the fault of people who post spoilers- TT or not.

EDIT: And, just to be clear, I'm also not saying you're at fault for "bumming me out", or that I was angry or upset with this thread in general. I guess I didn't phrase things well, but my point was I had just hoped to see more TTers weighing in with their thoughts, so things felt less one-sided.

Thanks for clearing that up! 👍 I am also sad that there isn't more discussion from people who enjoy TT on this topic. I wish there was. Maybe there will be a bit more in the future? I do like seeing both sides. 😊

Yeah. The only way to prevent spoilers 100% is just to stay off the internet. I just got used to Bell Tree being really good about using the spoiler tag, so when I found that out I was just a bit surprised. And sometimes, I do spoil myself on purpose, but I do like having the option to choose (personally speaking). That's why I've decided to stay off of social media when the next update comes out and I was wondering if anyone else was planning on also changing up their playstyle. Mostly because I don't think a non-spoiler chat thread could compete with a free "what have you found out about _____ update?" type of thread. 😊😎
