Today is 12 July. If I send a villager a letter, then time travel *backwards* to 10 July, will he or she not receive the letter until 13 July?
I believe the game sees time travel backwards any length of time as a leap forward exactly one day, so your letter will be delivered and possibly responded to when you load up your game
