I think I'm in love ♥_♥ Their music is just amazing! For those who don't know, you can search Babymetal on youtube. They are a heavy metal and pop band consisting of 3 young girls. Two 14 year olds, and one 16( who has recently graduated from Babymetal)
I suggest watching the FineBros youtubers react babymetal video to know more about them.
Any thoughts? :o

Their music is nice, but I really hope that the members are even aware of what they are doing. I haven't seen them do any interviews or anything so I hope they at least know that much being that they are so young.

They actually did an interview. And am I the only one who thinks the two younger girls are cute? They have been doing this for two years now, so I guess they started when they were twelve?

Nah, you're not the only one. They are indeed cute. I just think people voice their concern or surprise first before commenting on their cuteness.

I think they look cute and they are certainly are very brave for doing something so different, so I admire them for that. However, I just can't appreciate their music, since I don't like heavy metal. ^^ But I know they are becoming very popular so I really do wish them luck in their future career!

I kinda like them, they are rad af. Even though some songs are too standard hiphop/modern rnb in terms of tunes sometimes.

My personal favorite song that they made is : Gimme Chocolate. It's like a bitter-sweet thing. Bitter metal, with a mix of super sweet pop music and cuteness.

I think it's hilarious but idk I really like it
I didn't realise that the Japanese music industry system for bands like that is horrific though. The kids had no idea what metal music was when they started. I think they are shoved into bands at a young age and dropped when they graduate. It's like a machine, it totally goes against what I think music should be. But whatever.

It's probably just a different culture from ours, so we don't really understand.

i've heard of them before, and they're real cute! and they got that edgy thing going along so they're like a hybrid of a pop idol group and visual kei

however, i'm done with jrock and screamo so I wouldn't listen to them nowadays |D

I'M JUST SO HAPPY FOR MY BABIES OMFG
-proud mama tears- btw I really recommend Headbanger and catch me if you can along with Gimmie choko as well as a few others.
p.s The rap and reggae (Doki Doki Morning )infused songs aren't really popular with the fans either unu''

another example; AKB48 is insane but from a different prospective its a great stepping stone for potential careers and not all of them are dropped when they graduate. I mean they can be dropped from their idol group but look at Acchan, Tomo-chin and others, however compared to the countless hopefuls, its almost meaningless.

I don't listen to Japanese metal as much.

But my favorite song that would kind of be considered Japanese heavy metal is LM.C - Oh my Juliet, because the chorus is super duper catchy. There was a point in time I loved An Cafe as well.

As for Japanese pop, I listen to it more often. Such as mimu, utada hikaru, kana nishino, capsule (ehhh more like japanese techno) but yeah.

That is one of their worst tbh :p

Depends on how much you are into their culture and how much understanding you have to their music industry. I've been into the J-music listening for soon 10 years at least and been through everything from Dir en grey to 1920s arists and I have found my current likings somewhere inbetween.

But stuff like Babymetal, capsule and whatnot are today's stuff. People wasn't easy-to-go and listen stuff like this, pretty much with a kawaii-gore image with it.

Not really though, it's a matter of opinion.
And I believe that in Japan their music is called "Kawaii-Metal". I don't want to be Captain obvious here so I'll let the thinking up to you guys.

Any more thoughts? And does anyone know who replaced the graduated 16 year old (SU-METAL I think) in the band?
Quite sad since she had a very nice voice.

I didn't say other than that it was opinion. Forum people, not fanclubs.

Did I say it was called something else? No.

Also, it's kinda tragic that they sound like everything else generic J-pop with some standard hiphop beats in it together with some random metal dude screaming "Kitsune" in every other song. It's not like they are something unique overall. It's just that we embraces everything Japan because it's "in" and popular. It's still "popular music" in terms of the "pop" definition. Just because we don't have it here it's unique.

Try dig up something like Christine 23 Onna or something space-rock/psych. Would that be as successful? No, because we have bands doing it here as well.

I was not really telling you that their music is kawaii metal. I was adding on to my first post.

Also, it is kind of unique. We don't like it just because it's "in". Heck, I didn't even know they existed before I watched the FineBros Youtubers Reaction about them. It is unique(to me at least) because it is the first time I have ever seen a Fusion between J-Pop and Metal, and when you think about metal, you think of gore, violence, and pierced dudes shouting at the top of their lungs. But the music that BabyMetal offers is cutesy, creepy and gore-type of metal, that it's quite hard to notice that it's actually metal music. And you know that there are hardcore metal fans out there who like their music, and do not like Japan or music that comes from the country right? Unique or not,
We have to praise them for thinking of an idea that no one else would. Mixing Pop with metal. You can argue more that this is not unique, or why we like it, but to us, their music is good, and that is why we like it :)

People have been doing "kawaii" rock/metal way before this, be it they was a bit older and not being vocaloid j-pop for it. I don't say they suck, I just love how everyone is loving it because it's Japanese and "unique". Like Kana/Moon, and to an extent Tommy february6(more synth pop/rock rather than metal) but still.

Also, I would love to see someone western doing this without getting accused lol.

Not everyone loves BABYMETAL just because it's from Japan. Does this mean Japanese fans like it because it's from uh, Japan?
I don't think so. I personally think fans like it because it is good music (to them). And it is unique to some fans, because most of them have not heard of Pop fusing with metal, especially from Japan. You don't think it's unique because you have seen more kawaii Metal bands than most fans that like it because they think it is unique. I don't like it just because I think it's unique. I like the music much more than it being unique. :lemon: I can think that the band is unique, but I won't like the music. People have different reasons why they like the band I guess, but we won't probably know lol.
