Just to quickly clarify I'm not talking about games such as ''barbie fashion designer'', ect.

I'm talking about games where you create something from scratch and you can adjust and design it the way you want it. Think about games like the good old Rollercoaster Tycoon , Simcity and many more.

I've personally been a huge fan of these kind of games since I was a kid. I literally couldn't stop playing these kind of games because I wanted to make everything perfect and that's still the same after all those years. I really like the idea of just playing a game the way I want it to play without strictly following what others say I should do in-game (hate you too tutorials).

I think these type of games have always been fairly popular so I would like to hear what you guys think of these

EDIT: Just noticed there was already a Rollercoaster Tycoon thread. If moderators feel this thread is therefore unnecessary you can go ahead and just close it

I love them. I think they people (especially kids), the potential to express their creativity if they're unable to do so in other ways.

I'm just very disappointed that there isn't more innovation for these kinds of games; once you've played one roller coaster tycoon, you essentially played everything you need to, and so you don't see many interesting new releases coming out nowadays.

I think the last major creative titled that could be seen as a design game, in a sense, would be minecraft.

The ones you named are Sim games or simulation games. I love them. They're really fun especially Simcity 2000 and Sims 3.

I love simulation games, partially because they're the only type of game that doesn't require any skill.

It depends on the simulation itself, sure I love Rollercoaster Tycoon (the first and second, 3 can go die) but I don't fancy like food games or stuff like the The Sims, it never interested me.

I love customizable games. I could spend hours just trying to perfect everything. The only thing that would bother me was if customizing was the only point of the game. There has to be something else besides just designing such as exploring or interaction between other characters.

If you have a PC, you should try out Garry's Mod. It's probably the best in terms of creative-design games, as you make all sort of stuff like vehicles and buildings out of different props, or even mazes and stuff like that (buildings with booby-traps). Of course, some of the stuff is complicated to learn, but if you're willing to put in the time, you can build some pretty impressive things.
