Thoughts on country music?

I can't stand it. I know it sounds pretty whatever coming from someone whose playlist is 90% metal, but I haven't found a single country song I like. Just the general sound of it annoys me, and I don't care for the themes. Even though I don't like rap and pop, at least there are a couple of songs from those genres I enjoy... Can't say the same for country, though.

I’m from Texas yet I despise country music, I’m sorry if it’s really your thing but I can’t listen to it for more than ten minutes:((

Also…during this difficult time, I came across a country song about pet loss, and thought it would be nice to share. It made me cry when I first listened to it, so I understand if it’s too sad. But I’m glad some country artists (and artists in general) are expanding their horizons with the issues they sing about.

I used to listen to it pretty often when I was younger because of the types of people I hung around with (Including the state I live in still) and...my Mom, who still listens to it but I think it's only because one of my little brothers joined the Army when he turned 18 back in the late 2010s.

I am really not into country music. It is not my type of music genre. Whenever I hear a song on the radio that’s sounds country, I change it immediately.

It’s just okay they’re are some good country songs but it’s not my favorite genre

I don't mean to be a hater (could entirely avoid the topic by reading the title), but Country Music is one of my least favorite genres of all time.
That said, I don't mind listening to it on long road trips since it seems appropriate. Otherwise, never.

I don't like mainstream country or "stadium country" but I can enjoy the occasional older country song. Definitely not my go-to genre though.

I don't mind it. There's some nice music from all genres. And I really love some of the instruments. I used to go to reenactments a lot. Not as much now, but I still try to make it out to one or a handful a year if I can. They have string bands and I really love the energy they have when they play.

Ok, so— Sometimes I am ok with it but it tends to follow a similar lyrical/musicial/melody pattern as pop music (typically) and has some less room for experimentation. My least 2 / most disliked genres: metal and country. Though I respect country more than metal cause metal is literally just screaming lyrics and people do that much more with vocal range in stuff like alternative or hard rock. (Florence and the machine has a very amazing voice, btw! And she doesn’t need to “ scream” to show her amazing vocal range & capabilities…!) I think metal is very overdone. I think electronic remixes of metal is often better and more interesting than the actual metal. Metal just all sounds the same similar to country, though country does have some nice vibes, typically. Not really my thing: but hey, I respect it. I don’t judge.
I think my go to genres are typically rock, alternative, electronic, dance, pop, and then finally country or metal at the end.
Though; I love some 80’s 90’s music a lot!!!
Anyone into talking heads lol

But yeah I like some country depending on what it is. Though it def isn’t my go-to genre. And I don’t think conservatives or liberals matter when it comes to music: politics and music are two very different things ! (I guess it’s bc country originally may have came from the south, but that is just a style of music that can be moved around anywhere, I’d say)

MUSIC IS GREAT! My logic is: if it makes me feel something great! And no genre is perfect! Music is just there 4 people to let loose and have a good time and Vibe!!!!!
: - ) let the music be!

Conway Twitty and his amazing hair

I like some old school country music like Marty Robbins,Conway Twitty,Mel Tillis,Patsy Cline,Johnny Cash,Roger Miller and Glen Campbell. Some of the 80's stuff is good too but the newer country music is pretty much unlistenable.
