What do you think of the concept of Nintendo's "Amiibo"? Are you going to get any? Though it's basically pouring money down the drain, I'm planning on buying them. If they can incorporate them into many games, I wouldn't mind shelling out money on them once. Thoughts?

I think they're really cool! I haven't decided on whether or not I'll buy them. It depends on what games we'll be able to use them with in the future. I might just get a Link one to have it!

All the parents are gonna go broke buying their spoiled kids these figures x'D Good business move on Nintendo's part, I guess. They're just following Skylanders' and Disney Infinity's footsteps.

But I've decided not to get the game, soooo... poop.

I like them quite a bit.
They look like high quality figures and I might get one just for curiosity's sake.

Here's a picture for everyone to see:

I'm definitely getting a few just for display's sake (amateur figure collector), not sure how much I'll actually end up using them tho. Hopefully Nintendo can come up with some cool ideas for them.

I like them, good quality figures they are like Story said. I'm definitely getting the villager, but not sure about the others because IDK if I can afford it haha.

In all honesty, instead of wanting to use them in the games... I would just want them because they're cute, well-made figurines and I love collecting things like that. Hahaha.

I suppose it depends largely on pricing, too. So much of my money is going down the drain already for Nintendo this year and next and they're going to bleed my wallet dry if I'm not careful.

Find them useless. They are taking skylanders all over again. I feel that the amiiboo skills will mainly be used for SSB4, and I dont find any use for it by fighting it against you or your friends. Because afterall...
Do you want to be the guy who trains the fighter? Or the guy who really fights.

I'll probably get 1 or 2 for the sake of getting them since they look cool, but what I want to know if they'll provide bonus content actually worth paying for. If they act like MK8-sized DLC or something then I'll definitely buy which ever one I need!

If you live in the US, I can tell you that they are 13-15$ each. Which is about the same for a Disney Infinity figure but a bit prices than a Skylander's figure.

Oh and I saw a list of games the Amiibo are going to work for thus far.

Here we go:
Smash Bros Wii U
Mario Kart 8
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
Mario Party 10
And Yoshi's Wooly World so far.

...Ouch. Well, uh, I would only get very specific ones, then, unless they offer some deals on getting sets of them.

I do wonder how they're going to work with Mario Kart 8, though. My first thought was as extra racers, but then they wouldn't really have any reason for these special upcoming DLC packs featuring some of those characters (Link and Villager, for instance).

"good quality"
wth you didn't even get to see and feel it in real life
probably not, imo it's a waste of money

I'll probably buy a few just to test them out.
I think they're a good idea, and from what I've seen they're more of an optional thing instead of something you really should invest in for games like skylanders and disney infinity, which is good.

How do you know that? :P
I actually did touch them, okay one of them and it was the Link one, but still, they seemed pretty sturdy which surprised me.

But eh, fair enough I've said that before even before I had hands-on with them.
They got pretty details in them so I would actually use them as decorative items more than playing with them like actual toys.
Some people just like collecting stuff.

I really like the concept of them, too bad they can be money-hoggers when you get a lot of them.

I'm actually also slightly confused about the "good quality" point... I mean some of them look really, really good, but the more humanoid ones, like Peach, Zelda and Link, look sooooo cheap. I don't know if that's just me, but I really like Zelda, and wanted a Zelda Amiibo, but it looks so cheap I really don't think I'll be buying one.

And that's another thing I'm, not worried/concerned about, but more of a negative/opinion in my eyes, I don't get why some of them look really good, but then there are others which look cheap...??

Considering the price of them I would probably only get a select few also. So far I'm thinking Kirby, Mario, Toon Link, and Marth.
I may sound like an idiot for saying this, but I'll probably avoid getting the heavy weight characters such as Bowser and DK. Only because I rarely play them in any smash game.
