So I was on eBay the other day and I came across people selling ACNH villagers. Raymond, Judy, Dom, everyone. I was interested in what they were charging for them because they are villagers in game, there isn't really an average price like say, a blanket. I checked and I was quite appalled. Some people were charging as much as 400 USD. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I was also curious if people sold items such as clothing and bells. They do. People were using hacks to get thousands of nmt, bells, pearls, stars, gold, etc., and selling it. Wow. Someone wanted fifteen USD for the underwater wall. Wtf. Anyways, in the replies, tell me your experience from these things. I'm curious as to what other people's experiences with selling ACNH items are.

Would never even consider doing this, buying or selling. Seems just wrong but if people want to spend their real money on that, good luck to them!
Lol, I would never buy anything like that, except my star trees. My friend wanted them for her birthday so I got her a few and kept some myself. The seller was trustworthy, although that doesn't mean all acnh item sellers are.

There was one point I had Raymond in my old town. Sibling wanted me to sell him.

well first off I didn't agree and Nintendo bans that anyway.

don't buy or sell items because Nintendo can take action I believe
They can, but he only times I've heard of them doing that is when someone wanted like two thousand for Raymond and got a buyer. I could buy a nice phone with that much.

I really dont pay any mind because they're welcome to play the game and some ppl rather pay to play and have everything. I'm just a farmer so I tend to grind.

As for nintendo being against it either it doesn't bother me either. They capitalized heavily due to the pandemic i think it's their third or fourth largest title. Just think $60 a pop and how many copies were sold!?!??!

I heard that it was against the Nintendo TOS to do this? But don't quote me on that, haha. I would not sell for currency, as it seems a bit weird and somewhat exploitative to me due to how easy it seems for a hacker to obtain these items, but wouldn't fault people from buying because time is money, haha. I've been invited to a giveaway-based discord community that works based on hackers getting items and giving them away, which was interesting. But the community that it promoted seemed a bit shallow due to the generosity of the giveaways, and seemed more focused on obtaining items and less about community itself!

Yeah, most giveaways on sites like here are really nice! But others on, say, discord or whatever, there are a lot of greedy people and sometimes scammers.

YOU GOT STAR TREES?

you know they're hacked right?
Although it hasn't been confirmed it could have effects on your game.

I think that's theft, they're getting money for selling parts of an IP they don't own or have the rights to.
I definitely agree. Some people are stealing, yet still getting thousands of buyers wanting 200 million bells or whatever.

I recently created an AC instagram account and I'm impressed by the amount of profiles dedicate to selling all kinds of stuff charging rlc. There was even a material island charging 20 dollars to come with an empty inventory and take whatever you want. Also catalog islands. But the ones I saw don't charge high for villagers, like around 10-15 dollars. I would never ever ever pay for anything in rlc, except for amiibos

I see tons of people selling ACNH in-game items for real money and I just tend to not pay them any attention. To be honest, the first month I was almost tempted to buy some nmts and other in-game items because there are some that sell them for really cheap! Didn’t buy any though since I really liked to farm. Also, though turnip runs are stressful they were also fun lol.
What really irk me is that there are some sellers who sell items for really ridiculous prices (seasonal diys for $35? New villagers like Judy and Raymond for $100+??) and it’s sad to know that there are actual people who’d buy!

The same thing happens with Pokemon. I view it more as you're paying someone for the service of generating items for you which is more of grey area. The main issue with it is when children start spending their parents money or get scammed trying to buy items this way.
